    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PC) is the most common cancer form in men. Surgery is the treatment of choice for localized form of PC and half of all surgical procedures are radical retropubic prostatectomies (RRP). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Study of pathogenesis and immune response in human Puumala virus infection

    Författare :Therese Thunberg; Clas Ahlm; Jonas Klingström; Brian Hjelle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hantavirus; puumala virus; immune response; viral load; NK cells; T cells; cytokines; disease severity; Infectious Diseases; infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : Hantaviruses can cause two severe human diseases: hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS). Hantaviruses are spread to humans mainly through inhalation of infectious virions, secreted from infected rodents. The human diseases are characterized by an increased capillary leakage syndrome. 4. 9. Haemophilus influenzae adhesins and the innate immune response

    Författare :Elena Ronander; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; Haemophilus influenzae; Haemophilus surface fibrils; complement; innate immune response; protein E; respiratory epithelium; adhesins;

    Sammanfattning : Haemophilus influenzae is a human specific Gram-negative respiratory tract pathogen. Encapsulated H. influenzae strains exist in six different serotypes a-f, of which type b (Hib) is the most virulent. Hib is protected by the polysaccharide capsule when invading the blood circulaton and may cause diseases such as meningitis and epiglottitis. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Immune response in human tonsil tissue

    Författare :Karin Ågren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Tonsillar hypertrophy; reeurrent tonsillitis; infectious mononueleosis; cytokine; immune response.;

    Sammanfattning : Pathogenic mechanisms responsible for tonsillar hypertrophy (TH) in children suffering from obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) were studied and compared with children with recurrent tonsillitis (RT) and infectious mononucleosis (IM), respectively. In an initial study the clinical consequences of OSAS caused by TH was investigated. LÄS MER
