1. Porous Silicon Microbioreactors - Applications and Technology
Sammanfattning : Microfluidic systems have become one of the most interesting fields in the research of chemical analysis. Miniaturized systems exhibit numerous practical advantages when compared with traditional batch-scale synthesis such as lower sample volumes, increased control of the reactions and higher sample throughput. 2. Engineering of thermometric biosensors and characterisation of redox enzymes for improved performance of biosensors/biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The present work is mainly focused on the development of enzyme-based bioanalytical devices, which can further be applied as analytical tools for industrial, medical and environmental applications. The first part of the work deals with the practical applications of thermometric biosensors for determination of various sugars (fructose and lactose) in a real samples. LÄS MER
3. Strategies for facilitated protein recovery after recombinant production in Escherichia coli
Sammanfattning : The successful genomic era has resulted in a great demand for efficient production and purification of proteins. The main objective of the work described in this thesis was to develop methods to facilitate recovery of target proteins after recombinant production in Escherichia coli. LÄS MER
4. Regenerative effects of mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes
Sammanfattning : Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play pivotal roles for bone regeneration by virtue of their osteogenic differentiation ability and immunomodulatory capacity. Recently, secretion of exosomes/extracellular vesicles (EVs) has been suggested as a new mechanism of MSC-based therapy. LÄS MER
5. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed.
