  1. 1. A Novel Immersed-Boundary Method for Multiple Moving and Interacting Bodies

    Författare :Andreas Mark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid-structure interaction; DNS; immersed-boundary method;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development, implementation and validation of an implicit, second order accurate, finite-volume and instationary immersed-boundary method for simulating the detailed flow around multiple arbitrary moving and interacting bodies. The potential for flows including moving bodies or boundaries, such as multiphase flows still has to be fully realized. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Mirroring Immersed Boundary Method - Modeling Fluids with Moving and Interacting Bodies

    Författare :Andreas Mark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber; DNS; Fluid-structure interaction; Mirroring immersed boundary method;

    Sammanfattning : The detailed fluid flow around arbitrary, moving, interacting and deforming bodies is both complex and poorly understood and the commercial simulation tools simulating such flows are computationally to demanding. Hence, a new fast and accurate method for simulating complex multi-body flows is required. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical analysis of coalescence-induced jumping droplets on superhydrophobic surfaces

    Författare :Konstantinos Konstantinidis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; jumping droplets; immersed boundary; CFD; surfaces; superhydrophobic; contact angle; VOF; coalescence; self-cleaning; wetting; hysteresis;

    Sammanfattning : Bio-inspired superhydrophobic surfaces are used in numerous technological applications due to their self-cleaning ability. One of the several mechanisms reported in literature and responsible for self-cleaning is the phenomenon of coalescence-induced jumping of droplets from such surfaces. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Detailed simulations of droplet evaporation

    Författare :Giandomenico Lupo; Christophe Duwig; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; droplet; evaporation; phase change; multicomponent; immersed boundary; droppe; förångning; fasövergång; multikomponent; nedsånkt rand;

    Sammanfattning : Droplet evaporation (and condensation) is one of the most common instancesof multiphase flow with phase change, encountered in nature as well as intechnical and industrial applications. Examples include falling rain drops, fogsand mists, aerosol applications like electronic cigarettes and inhalation drugdelivery, engineering applications like spray combustion, spray wet scrubbing orgas absorption, spray drying, flame spray pyrolysis. 5. 5. A Novel Fiber Interaction Method for Simulation of Early Paper Forming

    Författare :Gustav Kettil; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber suspension flow model; object-object interaction model; contact forces; lay down simulations; paper forming; immersed boundary methods; contact forces;

    Sammanfattning : In the forming section of a paper machine, a fiber suspension is flowing down onto a forming fabric, and a paper structure is formed. By using computer simulations this process can be studied, attaining new knowledge helping to improve paper quality and machine efficiency. LÄS MER
