  1. 1. IgG3 Complements IgM in the Complement-Mediated Regulation of Immune Responses

    Författare :Lu Zhang; Birgitta Heyman; Jenny Hallgren; Frida Henningsson; Kristina Lejon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG3; IgM; marginal zone B cells; follicular dendritic cells; complement receptors 1 and 2; C1q; C3; antigen transport; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : An intact complement system is essential for the initiation of a normal antibody response. Antibodies can regulate their own production against the antigens that they are specific for. Both IgG3 and IgM are able to enhance the antibody response via complement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Feedback Enhancement of Immune Responses by IgE, IgM, and IgG3 Antibodies

    Författare :Zhoujie Ding; Birgitta Heyman; Eva Severinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgE; IgM; IgG3; antibody responses; T-cell responses; antigen transportation; antigen presentation; complement; complement receptors 1 and 2; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies can enhance or suppress the immune responses against their specific antigens. This phenomenon is known as antibody-mediated feedback regulation. We have studied the mechanisms underlying IgE-, IgM-, and IgG3-mediated enhancement of immune responses in mouse models using intravenous immunization. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies : an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    Författare :Hui Xu; Birgitta Heyman; Helena Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; IgG3; IgE; suppression; enhancement; epitope masking; antigen transport; antigen presentation; follicular B cells; marginal zone B cells; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone. 4. 4. Antibody Feedback Regulation and T Cells

    Författare :Fredrik Carlsson; Birgitta Heyman; Alf Grandien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fc receptors; B cell; T cell; antigen presentation; complement receptors; complement; IgE; IgG3; CD23; antibody; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies, passively administered or actively produced, regulate immune responses to the antigen they recognize. This phenomenon is called antibody-mediated feedback regulation. Feedback regulation can be positive or negative, resulting in >1000-fold enhancement or >99% suppression of the specific antibody response. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Early Immunostimulatory Effects of IgE- and IgG Antibodies

    Författare :Fredrik Hjelm; Birgitta Heyman; Sandra Kleinau; Robert Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Antigen presentation; B cells; T cells; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies have the ability to influence their own production in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the type of antigen and the subclass of the antibody, the outcome of feedback regulation can be complete suppression or several hundred-fold enhancement of the antibody response. LÄS MER
