  1. 1. Polychlorinated biphenyls and their metabolites in human blood : Method development, identification and quantification

    Författare :Lotta Hofvander; Åke Bergman; Bo Jönsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCB; polychlorinated biphenyls; metabolites; human blood; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : PCBs are well known environmental pollutants. They are also precursors to metabolites, as the hydroxy-PCBs and the methylsulfonyl-PCBs. This thesis presents a validated methodology for analysis of PCB metabolites and a structural identification of 38 hydroxy-PCBs in human blood. LÄS MER

    Författare :Baback Gharizadeh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :apyrase; bacterial identification; dATP?S; EST sequencing; fungal identification; human papillomavirus HPV ; microbial and viral typing; multiple sequencing primer method; Pyrosequencing technology; Sequenase; single-stranded DNA-binding protein SS;

    Sammanfattning : The ability to determine nucleic acid sequences is one ofthe most important platforms for the detailed study ofbiological systems. Pyrosequencing technology is a relativelynovel DNA sequencing technique with multifaceted uniquecharacteristics, adjustable to different strategies, formatsand instrumentations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hidden Markov Models: Identification, Inverse Filtering and Applications

    Författare :Robert Mattila; Bo Wahlberg; Cristian R. Rojas; John Lygeros; Jan H. van Schuppen; Tobias Rydén; Ayca Özcelikkale; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hidden Markov models; HMM; inverse filtering; identification; estimation; method of moments; counter-adversarial autonomous systems; adversarial signal processing; belief estimation; abdominal aortic aneurysm; medical; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A hidden Markov model (HMM) comprises a state with Markovian dynamics that is hidden in the sense that it can only be observed via a noisy sensor. This thesis considers three themes in relation to HMMs, namely, identification, inverse filtering and applications. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Identification using Convexification and Recursion

    Författare :Liang Dai; Thomas Schön; Magnus Jansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signal processing; System identification; Convex optimization; Recursive Bayesian method; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing;

    Sammanfattning : System identification studies how to construct mathematical models for dynamical systems from the input and output data, which finds applications in many scenarios, such as predicting future output of the system or building model based controllers for regulating the output the system.Among many other methods, convex optimization is becoming an increasingly useful tool for solving system identification problems. 5. 5. The Dirac Equation: Numerical and Asymptotic Analysis

    Författare :Hasan Almanasreh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dirac operator; eigenvalue problem; finite element method; spurious eigenvalues; Petrov-Galerkin; cubic Hermite basis functions; stability parameter; meshfree method; $hp$-cloud; intrinsic enrichment; G-convergence; $ Gamma$-convergence; scattering theory; identification; wave operator; stationary approach; Dirac operator;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of three parts, although each part belongs to a specific subject area in mathematics, they are considered as subfields of the perturbation theory. The main objective of the presented work is the study of the Dirac operator; the first part concerns the treatment of the spurious eigenvalues in the computation of the discrete spectrum. LÄS MER
