  1. 1. Coronary Reactive Hyperemia

    Författare :Göran Olivecrona; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; t-PA; P2Y1-receptors; Hypothermia; Coronary; Reactive hyperemia;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: The mechanism of post ischemic reactive hyperemia is still unknown but now thought to be multifactorial and perhaps involving purinergic signalling. Purines such as ATP and ADP have recently been discovered to play a vital role in the regulation of vascular tone. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Endoplasmic Reticulum Dynamic Structural Changes in Neurons: The Fission-Fusion Phenomena

    Författare :Krzysztof Kucharz; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fragmentation; fission; endoplasmic reticulum; neurons; FRAP; primary cultures; organotypic slice cultures; in vivo; in situ; calcium; fusion; NMDA receptor; 2-photon microscopy; confocal microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is crucial for protein synthesis and protein maturation, is involved in cell stress and serves in neurons as the major intracellular Ca2+ store. Neuronal ER forms a continuous network of cisterns and tubules extending from soma to a subset of dendritic spines. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms of Mitochondria-Induced Brain Damage Following Ischemia and Hypoglycemia

    Författare :Michel Ferrand-Drake; Lund Wallenberg Neurocentrum; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cyclosporin A; neuronal death; calpain; caspase; mitochondrial permeability transition; necrosis; apoptosis; cerebral ischemia; hypoglycemia; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanisms of Mitochondria-Induced Brain Damage Following Ischemia and Hypoglycemia Following prolonged disruption of blood flow to the central nervous system (CNS), or energy deprivation by other means, such as hypoglycemia, some cells will inevitably degenerate. It has been, and still is, the subject of considerable debate and intense research on brain ischemia, as to the mode of cell death, i. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Novel Agonists and Antagonists of Platelet Receptors

    Författare :Carl Högberg; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Platelets; P2Y12; SUCNR1; FPP; hypothermia;

    Sammanfattning : Platelets are central for the primary haemostatis. The platelet has surface bound receptors that are vital for the platelet activation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Survival of Cultured and Grafted Embryonic Dopaminergic Neurones - Effects of hypothermia and prevention of oxidative stress

    Författare :Jenny Karlsson; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; 6-OHDA; lazaroid; PBN; brain; transplant; Parkinson s disease; dopamine; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transplantation of embryonic dopaminergic neurones can ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, but a major obstacle for clinical transplantations to overcome is the low survival (typically 5-10%) of implanted nigral neurones. If cell death in nigral grafts can be prevented, less embryonic tissue would be needed per transplantation session and hence more patients could receive intracerebral grafts as a therapy for Parkinson’s disease.
