  1. 6. Levosimendan in early experimental sepsis: effects on the heart and hepatosplanchnic circulation

    Författare :Doris Cunha Goncalves; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; septic shock; myocardial oxygen consumption; myocardial dysfunction; levosimendan; endotoxin; contractility; catecholamines; calcium sensitizer; cardiotonic agents; splanchnic perfusion;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis-related cardiovascular dysfunction associated with fluid-unresponsive tissue hypoperfusion might require inotropic treatment. This cardiovascular dysfunction seems to involve calcium desensitization and adrenergic unresponsiveness. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Exploring Intestinal Ischemia : An experimental study

    Författare :Rolf Fröjse; Conny Arnerlöv; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Eric Wahlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; gastrointestinal tonometry; continuous; pig; pHi; intestinal ischemia; intestinal vascular bed; lactate; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; dopexamine; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Unrecognized intestinal mucosal ischemia in severely ill patients may trigger development of multiple organ failure. Such ischemia can be evaluated by intraluminal tonometry reflecting mucosal PCO2 and intramucosal pH (pHi). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Pathophysiological, Inflammatory and Haemostatic Responses to Various Endotoxaemic Patterns : An Experimental Study in the Pig

    Författare :Miklós Lipcsey; Mats Eriksson; Jan Sjölin; Anders Larsson; Anders Bengtsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Anaesthesiology and intensive care; sepsis; animal model; cytokines; isoprostanes; endotoxic shock; pig; Anestesiologi och intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Septic shock is frequently seen in intensive care units and is associated with significant mortality. Endotoxin – a major mediator of the pathophysiologic responses – is released during lysis of Gram-negative bacteria. These responses can be mimicked in the endotoxaemic pig. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Studies of cerebral blood flow and cerebrospinal fluid in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Författare :Gustaf Österlundh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; methotrexate; neurotoxicity; cerebral blood flow; single photon emission computed tomography; cerebrospinal fluid; neuron-specific enolase; glia fibrillary acidic protein; neurofilament; ascorbyl radical;

    Sammanfattning : Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common childhood malignancy and more than 80% of the patients are cured today. Treatment might cause side effects and central nervous system (CNS) irradiation has been replaced by systemic high-dose methotrexate (MTX) and intrathecal (IT) MTX due to the risk of late effects. 5. 10. Intestinal effects of lung recruitment maneuvers

    Författare :Jonas Claesson; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Conny Arnerlöv; Björn Biber; Göran Hedenstierna; Petter Aadahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute lung injury; oleic acid lung injury; ischemia; reperfusion injury; swine; mechanical ventilation; lung recruitment; splanchnic circulation; laser Doppler flowmetry; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; lactate; glycerol; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Lung recruitment maneuvers (brief episodes of high airway pressure) are a modern treatment alternative to achieve open lung conditions under mechanical ventilation of patients with acute lung injury. It is well known that positive pressure ventilation with high airway pressures cause negative circulatory effects, and that the effects on regional vascular beds can be even more pronounced than the systemic effects.
