  1. 1. I en klass för sig : Genus, klass och sexualitet bland gymnasietjejer

    Författare :Fanny Ambjörnsson; Mark Graham; Britta Lundgren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Female socialization; girls; gender studies; sexuality; heteronormativity; class; normality; fieldwork; Gender studies; Genus;

    Sammanfattning : Samhällsvetenskaplig forskning har på senare år börjat uppmärksamma unga kvinnor, som tidigare fört en undanskymd tillvaro i skuggan av de unga männen. Syftet med denna avhandling är att, delvis i linje med denna forskning, undersöka hur tjejer i en svensk gymnasieskola skapar genus. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Protein Complexity via Non-Native States: Binding, Stability, and Structural Studies of Calbindin D9k and HAMLET (Human alpha-lactalbumin Made LEthal to Tumor cells)

    Författare :Jonas Fast; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; apoptosis; oleic acid; HAMLET; kinetic trap alpha-lactalbumin; calbindin; calcium; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Using optical spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and differential scanning Calorimetry (DSC), I have studied two different calcium binding proteins that can form kinetically trapped altered states. Calcium is very important in numerous biological processes such as blood coagulation, signal transduction, muscle contraction and bone formation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aerodynamic performance in bat flight

    Författare :Jonas Håkansson; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Leptonycteris yerbabuenae; Plecotus auritus; Glossophaga soricina; PIV; aerodynamics; wing morphology; bats; wind tunnel; animal flight;

    Sammanfattning : Bats are the only mammals capable of flight, and they are the only animal flyers that are mammals. This thesis focuses on the latter of those facts, and investigates how bats fly, from an aerodynamic perspective. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Protein Interactions: Electrostatics and Ligand Binding

    Författare :Ingemar André; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik; secondary structure formation; protein GB1; pKa values; pH stability; NMR; electrostatic interactions; M proteins; calbindin D9k; calcium binding; cooperativity; calmodulin; calbindin D28k;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with Ca2+ binding to proteins, electrostatic interactions in and between proteins as well as inter- and intramolecular interactions. A computer program was developed to determine Ca2+ binding constants from experimental titration data of proteins. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Complement in Autoimmunity - the importance of clearing waste

    Författare :Jonatan Leffler; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; annexins; apoptosis; Complement system; neutrophil extracellular traps; systemic lupus erythematosus; C1q; factor H; histones;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease where improperly cleared apoptotic cells and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) induce an autoimmune response. Complement is crucial to prevent SLE by tailoring immune responses and opsonizing dead cells but may also induce inflammation and tissue damage once the disease is initiated. LÄS MER
