  1. 16. Antibody-based bead arrays for high-throughput protein profiling in human plasma and serum

    Författare :Kimi Drobin; Jochen M. Schwenk; Peter Nilsson; Ulrika Qundos; Angela Silveira; Maria Pernemalm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteomics; affinity proteomics; immunoassay; antibody microarray; suspension bead array; protein profiling; plasma; serum; biomarker discovery; osteoporosis; inflammatory bowel disease; Crohn s disease; ulcerative colitis; Medical Technology; Medicinsk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Affinity-based proteomics utilizes affinity binders to detect target proteins in a large-scale manner. This thesis describes a high-throughput method, which enables the search for biomarker candidates in human plasma and serum. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Multivariate profiling of metabolites in human disease : Method evaluation and application to prostate cancer

    Författare :Elin Thysell; Henrik Antti; Janne Lehtiö; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolite profiling; metabolomics; predictive metabolomics; mass spectrometry; GC-MS; biomarkers; chemometrics; design of experiments; multivariate data analysis; prostate cancer; bone metastases; plasma; biologisk kemi; biological chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : There is an ever increasing need of new technologies for identification of molecular markers for early diagnosis of fatal diseases to allow efficient treatment. In addition, there is great value in finding patterns of metabolites, proteins or genes altered in relation to specific disease conditions to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms of disease development. 3. 18. Human mononuclear phagocytes : Production of reactive oxygen species generated by the NADPH oxidase

    Författare :Agneta Johansson; Roger Sundler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Human professional phagocytes constitute the first line of defence against invading microorganisms. With a membrane-bound enzyme system, the NADPH oxidase, these cells generate bactericidal metabolites. Activation of NADPH oxidase results in a generation of reactive oxygen species, e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction

    Författare :Barbara Bottalico; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMAT; VMAT2; OCT; NET; in-situ hybridization histochemistry; decidualization; human endometrium; placenta; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monoamine transporters; preeclampsia; histamine; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 5. 20. Genomic and Molecular Aspects of Mature Human B Cells

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Högerkorp; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Human; B-cell; Germinal center; Centroblast; serology; Immunology; onkologi; cancer; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Microarray; Cytology; Mantel cell lymphoma; Immunologi; serologi; Centrocyte;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers aspects of the mature human B cell and its different guises on its way to become a fully differentiated antibody forming plasma cell (AFC), the key player in the humoral immune system. The understanding of the complex molecular mechanisms taking place in the B cell, as it first encounters antigen, enters the germinal center (GC) reaction, giving rise to memory cells and plasma cells, is not only of importance for the curious scientist, but will also benefit the understanding of B cells in disease.
