  1. 1. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction

    Författare :Barbara Bottalico; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMAT; VMAT2; OCT; NET; in-situ hybridization histochemistry; decidualization; human endometrium; placenta; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monoamine transporters; preeclampsia; histamine; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 2. 2. The Role of Mammalian Target of Rapamycin in the Regulation of Amino Acid Transporters in the Human Placenta

    Författare :Sara Roos; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :amino acids; fetal growth restriction; human; mammalian target of rapamycin; membrane transporters; metabolism; placenta; pregnancy; system A; system L; taurine transporter;

    Sammanfattning : Abnormal fetal growth, which is associated with both perinatal morbidity as well as metabolic diseases in adulthood, is an important clinical problem affecting as many as 15% of all pregnancies. However, to this date, there is no specific treatment of this condition. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immunomodulation during human pregnancy : placental exosomes as vehicles of immune suppression

    Författare :Ann-Christin Stenqvist; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Maria Jenmalm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; exosomes; microvesicles; pregnancy; placenta; syncytiotrophoblast; immune privilege; apoptosis; cytotoxicity; T regulatory cells; NKG2D; MICA B; FasL; TRAIL; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The mammalian pregnancy comprises a challenge to the maternal immune system since the fetus is semi-allogeneic and could thus be rejected. Pregnancy success is associated with the placenta that is not only essential for oxygen supply, nourishment and pregnancy hormones but also plays a role in the protection of the fetus against maternal immunologic attack. 4. 4. The Effects of SSRI Treatment on Human Placenta and Embryo

    Författare :Helena Kaihola; Helena Åkerud; Inger Sundström-Poromaa; Jocelien Olivier; Olav Spigset; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antenatal depression; embryo; embryo development; fluoxetine; gene expression; NGF; placenta; protein expression; Raf-1; ROCK; signaling pathways; SSRI; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : During pregnancy, 4 - 7% of women suffer from major depressive disorder. When antidepressive treatment is needed, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the most commonly used. Although severe complications from SSRI treatment are rare, association with a number of adverse pregnancy and fetal outcomes has been found. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human Forkhead Genes

    Författare :Stefan Pierrou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transcription factor; FREAC; human forkhead homologues;

    Sammanfattning : The forkhead family constitutes a group of genes which encodes transcription factors that share a common DNA-binding domain, the forkhead domain. The first member to be discovered was the Drosophila melanogaster gene fork head. Members of this family have been found in a variety of species from bakers' yeast to man. LÄS MER
