  1. 21. Roles of mammalian Scribble in polarity signaling, virus offense and cell-fate determination

    Författare :Michael Wigerius; Magnus Johansson; Lawrence Banks; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cell polarity; scribble; tbev; RhoGTPase; jak-stat; mapk; neurite outgrowth; influenza a virus; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Mammalian Scribble is a target for proteins encoded by human papilloma virus, retro- and flaviviruses. Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a flavivirus that have evolved distinct strategies to escape antiviral responses. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Tonsillar cancer : incidence, prevalence of HPV and survival

    Författare :Lalle Hammarstedt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Since human papilloma virus (HPV) in the mid 1980ies was first observed in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, its role and impact, especially on oral and oropharyngeal cancer, have attracted extensive interest. The aim of this thesis was to investigate if the clinical impression of increased incidence of tonsillar cancer was true, and if HPV could be linked to this increase. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Från inbjudan till uppföljning : kvinnors erfarenheter av att delta eller inte delta i cervixcancerscreening

    Författare :Karin Blomberg; Carol Tishelman; Britt-Marie Ternestedt; Catarina Widmark; Barbro Wijma; Örebro universitet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vårdvetenskap; Nursing Science; Cervical cancer; Pap smear; cervical cancer screening; prevention; non-attendance; body; women; young adult; transition; health; online focus groups;

    Sammanfattning : Population-based cervical cancer screening programs (PCCSPs) were introduced in Stockholm in the 1960s; today all women residents aged 23-60 are invited to a cost-free Pap smear at regular intervals. A shift in scientific knowledge has occurred, with clarification of the link between human papilloma virus (HPV) and cervical cancer (CC), and the introduction of HPV-vaccines for primary prevention of CC. 4. 24. Molecular markers reflecting malignant transformation and tumor progression

    Författare :Patricia Stoltzfus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular markers; interphase fluorescence in situ hytidization; genetic diagnostic test; laminin-5 gamma2 chain; immunohistochemistry; precancerous lesions; invasiveness; breast cancer; cervical squamous cell carcinoma; tongue carcinoma; vulvar carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The early detection of neoplastic lesions is most critical in the successful treatment of malignant disease. This thesis investigates molecular targets for an improved detection and diagnosis of cancer by exploring the value of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect specific chromosomal aneuploidies and gene amplifications, and laminin-5 gamma2 chain expression detected by immunohistochemistry as a marker for invasiveness. 5. 25. Vaginal carcinoma : studies on etiology and prognostic factors

    Författare :Kristina Hellman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Primary vaginal carcinoma; genesis; etiology; prognosis; lammin-5gamma2 chain; CGH; genomic instability; protein expression; hierarchical cluster analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Primary carcinoma of the vagina (PCV) is a rare disease, with poor survival, mostly affecting elderly women. Due to its rarity the established knowledge originates from studies based on small materials, therefore little is known regarding the genesis, natural history and factors predicting the prognosis.
