  1. 11. Human papillomavirus tropism : determinants of viral tissue specificity

    Författare :Nitesh Mistry; Magnus Evander; Ola Forslund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; papillomavirus; receptor; heparan sulfate; pI; lactoferrin; lactoferricin; transcription; long control region; tropism; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women worldwide and human papillomavirus (HPV) is a prerequisit for the development of this cancer. HPV belongs to the Papillomaviridae family and infects the basal layer of epithelial cells where it generally progresses into warts or condylomas. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Apoptosis induced by a human milk protein complex. Cellular and structural studies in tumour cells and bacteria

    Författare :Anders Håkansson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []

    Sammanfattning : Human milk contains a vast array of bioactive molecules, with nutritional and protective functions. This thesis describes the effects of a human milk protein complex, MAL, on tumour cells and bacteria. During our studies on the anti-adhesive properties of human milk we observed that a milk fraction killed tumour cells. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Fermentation as a Means of Optimizing the Glycaemic Index - Food Mechanisms and Metabolic Merits with Emphasis on Lactic Acid in Cereal Products

    Författare :Elin Östman; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []

    Sammanfattning : In current recommendations from FAO/WHO, foods that elicit low glycaemic responses and thus have low glycaemic indices (GIs) are advocated. The rationale for this recommendation is that low-GI diets have been shown to reduce risk factors for e.g. type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease. LÄS MER
