  1. 1. Human leukocyte antigen in sickness and in health : Ankylosing spondylitis and HLA in Sweden

    Författare :Jessika Nordin; Kerstin Lindblad-Toh; Jennifer Meadows; Matthew Webster; Alison Meynert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Disease genetics; Ankylosing spondylitis; HLA typing; Imputation; Inference; Sex-stratified; HLA-B*27 independent; Association tests; Functional validation; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) plays a major role in keeping us healthy, but some of the HLA alleles can contribute to disease susceptibility. One example is HLA-B*27, which confers increased susceptibility of ankylosing spondylitis and represents one of the strongest genetic associations found in any common human disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dynamics of Human Leukocyte Antigen-D Related expression in bacteremic sepsis

    Författare :Sara Cajander; Jan Källman; Kristoffer Strålin; Bo Söderquist; Per Åkesson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; monocyte HLA-DR; sepsis; immunosuppression; bloodstream infection; HLA-DRA; CIITA; qRT-PCR;

    Sammanfattning : Monocytic human leukocyte antigen-D related (mHLA-DR) expression determined by flow cytometry has been suggested as a biomarker of sepsisinduced immunosuppression.In order to facilitate use of HLA-DR in clinical practice, a quantitative real-time PCR technique measuring HLA-DR at the transcription level was developed and evalutated. 3. 3. Immunogenetics of Childhood Type 1 Diabetes in Immigrant Patients in Sweden. Migration Studies on Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Ahmed Delli; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Childhood; Human Leukocyte Antigen HLA ; Islet autoantibodies; Zinc Transporter 8 ZnT8 ; Islet antigen IA2- ; Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 65 GAD65; Insulin; Migration.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined whether the offspring of immigrants (non-Swedes) to Sweden are at increased risk of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) when they are born or live in Sweden. It also evaluated if their T1D and T2D-related genes differed from Swedish patients and whether this genetic heritage determined the types and existence of islet autoantibodies at time of diagnosis and affected the classification of diabetes. 4. 4. Tapasin - The star of the show in HLA-I maturation

    Författare :Camilla Thuring; Antigen presentation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tapasin; HLA-I; tumor; antigen presentation;

    Sammanfattning : Human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules are present on the cell surface of all nucleated cells. They bind intracellular peptides and present them to the immune system thus providing a readout to cytotoxic T-cells about the status of a cell. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human leukocyte antigens with special reference to association and linkage in multiple sclerosis

    Författare :Anna Fogdell-Hahn; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HLA; MHC; multiple sclerosis; narcolepsy; lod score; linkage.;

    Sammanfattning : The polymorphism of HLA (human leukocyte antigen) is extensive. Allelic variation has previously been detected by cellular and serological methods. Today a variety of genomic typing techniques have been developed, which give higher resolution and a possibility to detect single nucleotide variations. LÄS MER
