21. Novel Analysis Toolkit for Capillaroscopic Images: Development and Clinical Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) is an invasive imaging technique that is used to assess the blood capillary network in the nailfold area. NC is routinely used for patients with microcirculation problems, such as systemic sclerosis and other connective tissue diseases. NC is repeatable and appears to be simple and harmless. LÄS MER
22. Exploring molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets : Manipulating affinity by chemical modifications
Sammanfattning : In this thesis molecular interactions between polypeptide conjugates and protein targets were investigated. Polypeptides were derivatized with small organic molecules, peptides and oligonucleotides. New strategies were developed with the aim to increase affinities for proteins of biological interest. 23. Visual Flow Display for Pilot Spatial Orientation
Sammanfattning : Pilot spatial disorientation (SD) is a significant cause of incidents and fatal accidents in aviation. The pilot is susceptible to SD especially in low visibility when the visual system is deprived of information from outside the cockpit. LÄS MER
24. Virus mediated induction of antibody independent cytotoxicity (VDCC) and enhancement of antibody dependent cytotoxicity (ADCC) in human lymphocytes in vitro
Sammanfattning : Addition in vitro of small amounts of paramyxoviruses (Mumps or Sendai) to lymphocytes from healthy human donors induces a strong and non-selective cytotoxicity against a variety of target cells (VDCC, virus dependent cellular cytotoxicity). VDCC-like reactions are believed to play a role in vivo in the defense against virus infection and/or the causation of the tissue lesions associated with virus disease. LÄS MER
25. Vibration exposure of the glabrous skin of the human hand
Sammanfattning : An occupational exposure to hand-arm vibration can cause a complex of neurological, vascular and musculo-skeletal disturbances, known as the 'vibration syndrome'. However, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms are not at all clear. LÄS MER
