  1. 1. Towards a Pluralistic Epistemology: Understanding the Future of Human-Technology Interactions in Shipping

    Författare :Yemao Man; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Human Factors; Decision Making; Automation; Human-Technology Interaction; Psychology; Human Errors; Multidisciplinary; Sociotechnical System; Human-Computer Interaction; Ecology; Epistemological Pluralism; Situation Awareness; Situated Learning; Knowledge Management; Complexity; Maritime; Distributed Cognition; Sociology; Activity Theory;

    Sammanfattning : The rapid advance of technologies is revolutionizing the way people work and transforming society into a digital world. In the shipping domain, many innovative technical systems have been designed and developed in the past decades, aiming to enable the maritime users to achieve the goal of safety, efficiency and effectiveness. 2. 2. Macroalgae in the Baltic Sea : responses to low salinity and nutrient enrichment in Ceramium and Fucus

    Författare :Lena Bergström; Lars Ericson; Lena Kautsky; Erik Bonsdorff; Christine A Maggs; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; adaptation; asexual reproduction; Baltic Sea; Gulf of Bothnia; salinity; macroalgae; nutrients; sexual reproduction; stress; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The brackish Baltic Sea is a marginal environment for both marine and freshwater species. The rate of ecological differentiation is presumably high due to strong selection pressure from a gradient of decreasing salinity that has been present in its current state for only about 3 000 years. 3. 3. Ecology and control of Anopheles mosquitoes and human malaria in Guinea Bissau, West Africa

    Författare :Katinka Pålsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Anopheles; Bed nets; Epidemiology; Malaria control; Natural mosquito repellents; Plasmodium; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; Entomology; entomologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses the relationship between risk of exposure to infective Anophelesmosquitoes and different environmental factors, in particular house construction, presence ofdomestic animals and house location, in coastal Guinea Bissau, West Africa. The potentialeffect of permethrin-impregnated bed nets on mosquito abundance in bed rooms, and on thePlasmodium parasite prevalence in children was also analysed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Natural and human-induced carbon storage variability in seagrass meadows

    Författare :Martin Dahl; Martin Gullström; Miguel A Mateo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Blue carbon sequestration; Carbon storage variability; Seagrass meadows; Anthropogenic disturbances; Climate change; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrasses are considered highly important CO2 sinks, with the capacity to store substantial quantities of organic carbon in the living biomass and sediments, and thereby acting as a buffer against climate change. In this thesis, I have studied carbon storage variability in temperate and tropical seagrass habitats and identified factors influencing this variation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Relationship between wildlife and tourism - interdisciplinary insights from Arctic fox tourism in Sweden

    Författare :Malin Larm; Anders Angerbjörn; Barbara Zimmermann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wildlife tourism; human disturbance; human-wildlife interaction; conservation; predation; arctic fox; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between wildlife and tourism can be studied from several different perspectives and the effects of such interactions can influence animals both positively and negatively with effects on both individual and population levels. This thesis takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining both natural and social perspectives, when studying the effects of tourism activity on a small population of the endangered arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus).
