  1. 21. Study of pathogenesis and immune response in human Puumala virus infection

    Författare :Therese Thunberg; Clas Ahlm; Jonas Klingström; Brian Hjelle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hantavirus; puumala virus; immune response; viral load; NK cells; T cells; cytokines; disease severity; Infectious Diseases; infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : Hantaviruses can cause two severe human diseases: hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS). Hantaviruses are spread to humans mainly through inhalation of infectious virions, secreted from infected rodents. The human diseases are characterized by an increased capillary leakage syndrome. 2. 22. Resident T cells in human skin : functional heterogeneity and clinical implications

    Författare :Stanley Sing Hoi Cheuk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The skin forms a critical barrier against the external environment and is therefore frequently challenged by infections and subjected to immune-mediated diseases as well as malignancies. The Tissue-Resident Memory T (TRM) cell is a subset of T cells that resides at sites of previous infection in the skin and other epithelial tissues. LÄS MER

  3. 23. T cell signatures and modulation by regulatory T cells

    Författare :Rubin Narayan Joshi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : CD4 T cells are crucial coordinators of protective immune responses against microbes and tumors. However, immune responses misdirected towards self-antigens are the hallmarks of autoimmune diseases. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) maintain peripheral immune tolerance, mainly by suppressing effector T cells. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Tissue transglutaminase autoantibodies in childhood celiac disease

    Författare :Daniel Agardh; Pediatrisk endokrinologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; serologi; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Immunology; serology; transplantation; villous atrophy; T cells; serological marker; screening; intestinal mucosa; children; celiac disease; CD25; CD8; CD4; autoantibodies; B cells; gluten-free diet; autoimmunity;

    Sammanfattning : Celiac disease is a prevalent small bowel disease in children caused by permanent intolerance against gliadin, which is the alcohol-soluble fraction of the cereal protein gluten in wheat, rye and barley. Celiac disease is characterized by an inflammatory infiltrate of CD4+ T lymphocytes in the intestinal mucosa leading to damage of villous structure and loss of absorptive surface. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Immuno-modulatory functions of CD1d-restricted natural killer T cells

    Författare :Emma Berntman; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; microarray; gene expression signature; infection; Salmonella; CD1d; NKT cells;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on a small population of non-conventional T lymphocytes, called natural killer T (NKT) cells. NKT cells have many unique features; such as recognition of glycolipids presented by CD1d, expression of NK receptors and rapid production of large amounts of cytokines, such as IL-4 and IFN-gamma,?upon activation.
