  1. 1. Oesophageal Cancer – Novel Targets for Therapy : With focus on Hsp90, EGFR, LRIG, microtubule and telomerase

    Författare :Xuping Wu; Simon Ekman; Johan Lennartsson; Ylva Pausson-Karlsson; Michael Bergqvist; Joachim Gullbo; Stefan Bergstöm; Gunilla Enblad; Claes Mercke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hsp90; EGFR; LRIG; microtubule; telomerase; oesophageal cancer; imetelstat; DNA double-strand break; 17-AAG; radiation; prognosis; radiosensitisation; microtubule targeting agents; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Oesophageal cancer is a malignant and aggressive disease with very poor survival. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate novel therapeutic targets in oesophageal cancer. In paper I, Hsp90 was expressed in all 81 oesophageal cancer tissues and also in nine oesophageal cancer cell lines. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Cancers presents a major health challenge, and there is a pressing need to develop new therapeutic strategies. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are the most commonly used treatments for cancer today. Radiation can be given as targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT), i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Of Mice and MYC : Modelling Medulloblastoma

    Författare :Oliver Mainwaring; Fredrik J. Swartling; Charles Eberhart; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer-related paediatric deaths, with medulloblastoma (MB) being the most common malignant paediatric brain tumour. MB is stratified into four major subgroups – WNT, SHH, Group 3, and Group 4, nomenclature defined by key pathways and drivers involved within each subgroup. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Progress of Weak Affinity Chromatography as a Tool in Drug Development

    Författare :Elinor Meiby; Sten Ohlson; Manfred Raida; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; weak affinity chromatography; fragment based drug discovery; fragment screening; thrombin; trypsin; cyclin G-associated kinase; Hsp90; Pin1; cyclooxygenase; lipodisks; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Weak Affinity Chromatography (WAC) is a technology that was developed to analyse weak (KD > 10-5 M) although selective interactions between biomolecules. The focus of this thesis was to develop this method for various applications in the drug development process.Fragment Based Drug Discovery is a new approach in finding new small molecular drugs. 5. 5. Functional analysis of the proteasome in eukaryotic organisms

    Författare :Marianthi Sakellari; Efstathios S. Gonos; Allan Sirsjö; Richard G. A. Faragher; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteasome; Proteasome activation; Protein synthesis inhibition; Hsp70; Hsp90; Proteostasis; Aging; Alzheimer’s disease; Caenorhabditis elegans; Lifespan extension; SKN-1;

    Sammanfattning : Proteasome degradation machinery is responsible for the turnover of a huge variety of normal and abnormal proteins, thus regulating a plethora of cellular processes. Aging is an inevitable biological process that is characterized by reduced proteasome function that leads to proteotoxic stress. LÄS MER
