1. The use of molecular markers for identifying species diversity and functional variation of ectomycorrhizal fungi
Sammanfattning : Ectomycorrhiza (EM) is a symbiosis between soil living fungi and the roots of woody plants. EM fungal communities are important in forest nutrient cycling, they are species rich and their structures vary between habitats and over time. LÄS MER
2. Diversity and interactions of begomoviruses and their associated DNA-satellites
Sammanfattning : To study the diversity of begomovirus/DNA-satellite complexes, plants of one crop species (okra; Abelmoschus esculentus) and one weed species (Ageratum conyzoides), both with leaf curling symptoms, were analyzed. Sequence analyses of complete genome components revealed a unique begomovirus/DNA-satellite complex in both plants. LÄS MER
3. Cellular models of human brain disorders from skin to brain
Sammanfattning : Studying human brain development and disorders is very challenging. In the absence of comparable model organisms, human-related models, and limitations to obtain live cells from the human brain, induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) technology, in particular, provided a unique tool to study the disease mechanisms and investigate potential treatments. 4. Structure Dependent Chemical and Biological Interactions of Poly(urethane urea)s
Sammanfattning : Poly(urethane urea)s, PUURs, are widely used in both industrial and biological applications because of excellent physical and mechanical properties and good biocompatibility in a variety of applications. Both the processing and the tailoring of specific properties of PUUR demand great knowledge of structure-property relationships. LÄS MER
5. Integrated Communications and Thermal Management Systems for Microsystem-based Spacecraft : A Multifunctional Microsystem Approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the potential of multifunctional silicon-based microsystems for advanced integrated nanospacecraft (AIN). Especially, multifunctional microsystems with the coexistant functions of communications and thermal management implemented in multilayer silicon stacks are approached with systems study. LÄS MER
