  1. 11. Effects of some Endocrine Disruptors on Human and Grey Seal Uterine Cells

    Författare :Carolina Bredhult; Matts Olovsson; Britt-Marie Bäcklin; Olle Söder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Obstetrics and gynaecology; Reproductive toxicology; Baltic grey seal; leiomyoma; myometrial cells; endometrial endothelial cells; hormones; endocrine disruptors; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of environmental contaminants in humans and animals are of great concern. Some contaminants are endocrine disruptors that may interfere with the endogenous hormonal signalling and disturb, for example, reproductive organs and functions. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Hormonal Regulation of Neural Stem Cell Proliferation and Fate Determination

    Författare :Karin Brännvall; Dan Lindholm; Sandra Ceccatelli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Neural stem cell; Proliferation; Fate determination; Hormones; Anabolic androgenic steroids; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Stem cells have the capacity for both self renewal, and to form all cell types in the body. Interestingly, so called neural stem cells (NSCs) are found in the adult human brain, which is of significance both out of a developmental perspective and from a clinical point of view. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Effects of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals on Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells In Vitro

    Författare :Malin Helmestam; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endocrine disrupting chemicals; hormones; human endometrial endothelial cells; endometrium; estrogen; progesterone; cadmium; tamoxifen; mifepristone; bisphenol A; angiogenesis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Evidence from an abundant number of studies suggests that human female reproductive functions have become impaired over the past half century and that there might be a relationship between endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and reduced fertility. It is, however, not known by what mechanisms EDCs affect different reproductive functions such as endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation and placentation. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Pheromonal Mediated Behaviour and Endocrine Responses in Salmonids : The impact of Cypermethrin, Copper, and Glyphosate

    Författare :Alia Jaensson; Ingvar Brandt; Håkan Olsen; Kjell Döving; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cypermethrin; copper; glyphosate; behaviour; hormones; pheromones; olfaction; 11-ketotestosterone 11-KT ; 17α; 20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one 17; 20β-P ; reproduction; Toxicology; Toxikologi; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of cypermethrin, copper and glyphosate on the endocrine system and subsequent response to female pheromones were investigated in mature male brown trout (Salmo trutta) parr.  Responses measured were the amount of strippable milt, blood plasma levels of both an androgen (11-ketotestosterone (11-KT)) and a progestin (17α,20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (17,20b-P)), and behavioural changes. 5. 15. Sex differences in children's play behavior : A biological construction of gender?

    Författare :Anna Servin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; congenital adrenal hyperplasia; sex differences; children; play; expectations; wishes; hormones; biology; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis addressed the question of what causes sex differences in children's play behavior.In Study I, it was found that mothers have rather sex-stereotyped expectations for how their 1- and 3-year-old children will behave at the age of five, as regards sex-typed activities.
