1. Diffusion studies in gels using holographic laser interferometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation of the potential of holographic laser interferometry for the study of diffusion of both small solutes and macromolecules. An investigation on the importance of errors due to light deflection in refarctive index gradients showed that the magnitude of the refractive index gradients were negligible for the system investigated. 2. Pulsed laser ablation studied using digital holography
Sammanfattning : Pulsed digital holographic interferometry has been used to study the plume and the shock wave generated in the laser ablation process on different targets under atmospheric air pressure. A pulsed Nd-YAG laser system (pulse duration 12 ns) has been used both for ablating the material (wavelength 1064 nm) and for measurement (wavelength 532 nm). LÄS MER
3. Pulsed laser ablation studied using digital holographic interferometry
Sammanfattning : Pulsed digital holographic interferometry has been used to investigate the plume and the shock wave generated in the ablation process of a Q-switched Nd-YAG (lambda= 1064 nm and pulse duration = 12 ns) laser pulse on a polycrystalline Boron Nitride (PCBN) target under atmospheric air pressure. A special set-up based on using two synchronised wavelengths from the same laser for simultaneous processing and measurement has been used. LÄS MER
4. Ferroelectric domain engineering and characterization for photonic applications
Sammanfattning : Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) and KTiOPO4 (KTP) are ferroelectric crystals of considerable interest in different fields of optics and optoelectronics. Due to its large values of the nonlinear optical, electro-optic (EO), piezoelectric and acousto-optical coefficients, LiNbO3 is widely used for laser frequency conversion using the quasiphase matching (QPM) approach where the sign of nonlinearity has been periodically modulated by electric field poling (EFP). 5. Pulsed holographic interferometry for the study of bending wave propagation in paper and in tubes
Sammanfattning : Pulsed Holographic Interferometry (HI), is used to record propagating transient bending waves in plates and shells. These waves are generated mechanically by impact of a small steel sphere or optically by focusing a high energy laser pulse at the surface of the tested object. LÄS MER
