  1. 1. Methods for Preclinical Evaluation of Cytotoxic Drugs : With Special Reference to the Cyanoguanidine CHS 828 and Hollow Fiber Method

    Författare :Saadia Bashir Hassan; Elin Lindhagen; Rolf Larsson; Mats O Karlsson; Mustapha Hassan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacology; CHS 828; in vitro; in vivo; hollow fiber; models; NF-kB; Farmakologi; Pharmacological research; Farmakologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The novel cyanoguanidine CHS 828 has shown promising antitumor activity in many in vitro and in vivo studies. The long-term 14 days in vitro hollow fiber cultures, where tumor cells from different tumor cell lines were cultured inside semipermeable fibers, were more resistant to CHS 828 and other cytotoxic drugs than the shorter-term 3 days cultures. 2. 2. Experimental Studies on CO2 Capture Using Absorbent in a Polypropylene Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor

    Författare :Yuexia Lu; Jinyue Yan; Erik Dahlquist; Umberto Desideri; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :CO2 capture; Simultaneous removal of CO2 and SO2; Hollow fiber membrane contactor; Membrane gas absorption; Partial wetting; Surface modification; CO2-avskiljning; samtidig avskiljning av CO2 och SO2; ihålig fiber; membran; gas absorption; vätning; ytmodifiering; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, membrane gas absorption technology has been considered as one of the promising alternatives to conventional techniques for CO2 capture due to its favorable mass transfer performance. As a hybrid approach of chemical absorption and membrane separation, it exhibits a number of advantages, such as operational flexibility, compact structure, high surface-area-to-volume ratio, linear scale up, modularity and predictable performance. 3. 3. Experimental Studies on CO2 Absorption in Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor

    Författare :Yuexia Lu; Jinyue Yan; Niklas Hedin; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :CO2 capture; Hollow fiber membrane contactor; Membrane gas absorption; Partial wetting; Surface modification; ; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane gas absorption technology is considered as one of the promising alternatives to conventional techniques for CO2 separation from the flue gas of fossil fuels combustion. As a hybrid approach of chemical absorption and membrane separation, it may offer a number of important features, including operational flexibility, compact structure, linear scale up and predictable performance. 4. 4. Sorption and transformation of polar pharmaceuticals during wastewater treatment studied by hollow fiber liquid phase microextraction

    Författare :Estelle Larsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pharmaceuticals; wastewater treatment; sludge; hollow fiber liquid phase microextraction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the application of hollow fiber liquid phase microextraction as a simple, efficient and environmentally friendly tool to study the fate of four common anti-inflammatory drugs (ketoprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and ibuprofen) during wastewater treatment. Initial experiments verified that this technique is applicable on aqueous as well as suspensions of solid samples, thus greatly simplifying the sample preparation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Significance of hydrolytic enzymes expressed during xylem cell death

    Författare :Benjamin Bollhöner; Hannele Tuominen; Moritz Nowack; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; Populus; xylem cell death; metacaspase; fiber; lateral root emergence; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Xylem is an inherent feature of all vascular plants and functions in water transport and mechanical support. In order to efficiently transport water, xylem cells are reinforced by secondary walls before they undergo programmed cell death and their cell contents are removed by autolysis to create a hollow tube.
