  1. 21. Mathematics textbooks for teaching : An analysis of content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge concerning algebra in Swedish upper secondary education

    Författare :Wang Wei Sönnerhed; Berner Lindström; Jonas Emanuelsson; Ingemar Holgersson; Göteborgs universitet kommunikation och lärande Institutionen för pedagogik; []
    Nyckelord :mathematics textbooks; school algebra; solving methods; factorization; solving quadratic equations; mathematics teaching; content knowledge; pedagogical content knowledge; geometrical models; algebra history; embedded teaching trajectories;

    Sammanfattning : In school algebra, using different methods including factorization to solve quadratic equations is one common teaching and learning topic at upper secondary school level. This study is about analyzing the algebra content related to solving quadratic equations and the method of factorization as presented in Swedish mathematics textbooks with subject matter content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) as analytical tools. 2. 22. Cyclotides evolve : Studies on their natural distribution, structural diversity, and activity

    Författare :Sungkyu Park; Göransson Ulf; Lars Bohlin; Mohamed Marahiel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cyclotide; cyclic cystine knot; evolution; peptide synthesis; chemical ligation; QSAR; Viola; Violaceae; phylogeny; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy;

    Sammanfattning : The cyclotides are a family of naturally occurring peptides characterized by cyclic cystine knot (CCK) structural motif, which comprises a cyclic head-to-tail backbone featuring six conserved cysteine residues that form three disulfide bonds. This unique structural motif makes cyclotides exceptionally resistant to chemical, thermal and enzymatic degradation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. A vertex-centered discontinuous Galerkin method for flow problems

    Författare :Sven-Erik Ekström; Martin Berggren; Per Lötstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The understanding of flow problems, and finding their solution, has been important for most of human history, from the design of aqueducts to boats and airplanes. The use of physical miniature models and wind tunnels were, and still are, useful tools for design, but with the development of computers, an increasingly large part of the design process is assisted by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). 4. 24. Modeling Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and brown trout (Salmo trutta) responses to river habitat alteration

    Författare :Kristine Lund Bjørnås; John Piccolo; Olle Calles; Steven F. Railsback; Leif Asbjørn Vøllestad; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecohydraulics; Restoration; Natural resource management; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Half the world’s river volume is affected by flow alterations and/or fragmentation, a figure that is likely to increase with the current global surge in hydropower development. At the same time, freshwater biodiversity is in rapid decline. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Methodology and Infrastructure for Statistical Computing in Genomics : Applications for Ancient DNA

    Författare :Kristiina Ausmees; Carl Nettelblad; Mattias Jakobsson; Flora Jay; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development and evaluation of computational methods for analysis of genetic data. A particular focus is on ancient DNA recovered from archaeological finds, the analysis of which has contributed to novel insights into human evolutionary and demographic history, while also introducing new challenges and the demand for specialized methods.
