16. Melt convection in welding and crystal growth
Sammanfattning : A parallel finite element code with adaptive meshing was developed and used to study three dimensional, time-dependent fluid flows caused by thermocapillary convection as well as temperature and dopant distribution in fusion welding and floating zone crystal growth. A comprehensive numerical model of the three dimensional time-dependent fluid flows in a weld pool had been developed. LÄS MER
17. Design of Functional Structures and Measurement Techniques for Electromagnetic Waves
Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic fields exist all around us. Through evolution, nature has developed tools to interact and use these fields, where our eyes are a spectacular example. Humans have a long history of developing structures and objects of their own to alter and interact with these fields. LÄS MER
18. A vertex-centered discontinuous Galerkin method for flow problems
Sammanfattning : The understanding of flow problems, and finding their solution, has been important for most of human history, from the design of aqueducts to boats and airplanes. The use of physical miniature models and wind tunnels were, and still are, useful tools for design, but with the development of computers, an increasingly large part of the design process is assisted by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). 19. Methods for material parameter estimation : global and local approach
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of computing technology has made powerful tools, such as finite element codes, available for more and more companies. The use of simulation tools, predictive engineering, is a prerequisite today in product development. LÄS MER
20. Monitoring Infrastructure Affordances
Sammanfattning : Computing has made its way into most of our lives as a key processor of vast quantities of information. This has happened directly in terms of gadgets and devices that assists us in everyday life, but also indirectly, through the critical infrastructures that enables these devices to function. LÄS MER
