Sammanfattning : This study explores the biography of spoils through analysing cases of cultural looting by Gustavus Adolphus and Carl Gustaf Wrangel during their seventeenth century military campaigns. Today, such artefacts are in general described as “war booty”, although this expression (“krigsbyte”) first occurred in the Swedish language in 1712. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the establishment (in 1885), the influence, the critical reception, and the legacy of the Fürstenberg Gallery and Art Collection in Gothenburg, Sweden. The aim of this research is to demonstrate how the gallery and the collection were products and producers of specific art-historical situations, within a particular nineteenth-century Swedish art world. Sammanfattning : This study examines how the Latin manuscript collection of Queen Christina of Sweden was formed, what function it served for the queen and for others, and how various attempts to impose order on it reflect different epistemological traditions. A recurring theme of the study is the creation of order and the title, The Mild Boredom of Order, a quotation taken from an essay on book collecting by Walter Benjamin, refers to this pervasive theme. Sammanfattning : This study examines how the Royal Palace of Stockholm gradually, from 1880–2000, became established as a monument in art and cultural history, as well as a site of national heritage.
