  1. 21. Environmental records of carbonaceous fly-ash particles from fossil-fuel combustion

    Författare :Maria Wik; Lars Ericson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbonaceous particles; soot; anthropogenic particles; oil and coal combustion; fossil fuel combustion; lake sediments; lake acidification; forest soils; historical monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuel combustion produces fly-ash particles that are released into the atmosphere and deposited in the environment. A particularly characteristic kind of fly-ash is spheroidal carbonaceous particles. They are composed of an amorphous carbon matrix in which other elements are dispersed. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Root system of seabuckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides L.) : morphology, metabolism and gene expression

    Författare :Syed Rehmat Ullah Shah; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Nutrient availability is one of the limiting factors for plant growth and development, and the nutrients on Earth are unevenly distributed. To overcome this, plants adapt by modifying their morphology and physiology, especially of the root system. Seabuckthorn is a small tree growing in temperate regions of Europe and Asia. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Colonisation and extinction of vascular plants on islands off the Swedish east coast

    Författare :Anders Löfgren; Lars Ericson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plants; ecological succession; colonizing ability; population dynamics; grasslands; islands; Sweden; plant ecology; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Persistence of species is a function of colonisation and extinction among patches at a regional scale. A decrease in area and an increased isolation of suitable patches may result in a decreased colonisation rate and an increased extinction rate among species. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Comparative morphological studies of fossil and living plane trees (Platanaceae) and oaks (Quercus): taxonomy, ecology, evolution

    Författare :Georg Florian Tschan; Thomas Denk; Ove Eriksson; Bertil Ståhl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Platanaceae; Platanus; Credneria; Quercus; Galliferae; leaf architecture; epidermal anatomy; comparative morphology; character variation; variability; sample size; diversity patterns; species concepts; ecology; biogeography; evolution; plant fossils; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Morphological characters are essential for flowering plant identification, but also provide information about diversity patterns and ecological adaptation. In woody plant species, characters of the leaf are among the most useful and can be examined on fossils as well. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Botaniska bilder till allmänheten : om utgivningen av Carl Lindmans Bilder ur Nordens flora

    Författare :Gunilla Törnvall; Institutionen för kulturvetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; botanical illustrations; scientific illustrations; colour lithography; 20th century illustrations; 19th century illustrations; popular science; representing nature; book history; flora; botany; history of botany; Carl Lindman; Wahlström Widstrand; Axel Ekblom; Thérèse Ekblom; Generalstabens litografiska anstalt; Börtzells tryckeriaktiebolag; Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch; Bilder ur Nordens flora; Svensk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study, ”Botanical pictures for the public: On the publication of Carl Lindman’s Bilder ur Nordens flora”, is to investigate the process of how botanical illustrations are designed and produced and how they reach their readers. The perspective is that of book history. LÄS MER
