16. Progression and treatment of experimental peri-implantitis
Sammanfattning : Peri-implantitis is characterized by inflammatory lesions in peri-implant tissues and loss of supporting bone. The aims of the present series of studies were to analyze (i) spontaneous progression and (ii) the effect of surgical treatment of experimental peri-implantitis at different types of implants. Labrador dogs were used. LÄS MER
17. Development of techniques to determine extracellular matrix alterations in acute and chronic lung diseases and bioengineered tissues
Sammanfattning : Acute and chronic lung diseases are a major cause of global mortality. While pharmacological approaches exist, no therapies are curative. The only option at end-stage disease is lung transplantation which is hampered by a chronic shortage of donor organs. LÄS MER
18. The functional anatomy of kappa promoters
Sammanfattning : Immunoglobulin kappa promoters were collected from mice and man. It was shown that they had homology within but not between subgroups, and the promoters were also conserved between species. The octamer element was found in all promoters, but other sequence elements were conserved within the distinct subgroups. LÄS MER
19. Dopamine neurons in ventral mesencephalon : interactions with glia and locus coeruleus
Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by a depletion of the dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. The cause of the disease is yet unknown but age, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation are some of the features involved in the degeneration. LÄS MER
20. Morphometrical Methodology in Quantification of Biological Tissue Components
Sammanfattning : Objective:To develop and validate computer-assisted morphometrical methods, based on stereological theory, in order to facilitate the analysis and quantitative measurements of biological tissue components.Material and methods:Biopsy specimens from the vaginal wall or from the vestibulum vaginae of healthy women, or from women suffering from incontinence or vestibulitis were used.
