    Sammanfattning : Patrick Chamoiseau is arguably the most prominent cultural personality from the French island of Martinique. His reputation is due to the worldwide success of his novels, especially Texaco, winner of the Prix Goncourt-award in 1992, but also to the fact that he is the leading theorist of the Créolité, an ideological movement whose aim is to preserve the character of Creole identity and culture against the threat of assimilation.     Sammanfattning : This thesis, situated in the context of francophone and maghrebian postcolonial studies, examines the impact of identity discourses on the protagonists’ subjectivity in Assia Djebar’s La Femme sans sépulture (2002) and La Disparition de la langue française (2003) and Nina Bouraoui’s Garçon manqué (2000) and Mes mauvaises pensées (2005). These novels draw a parallel between two historically connected spaces, France and Algeria, and periods,  the years of the Algerian war of independence and the rise of Islamists in 1990s  Algeria.     Sammanfattning : This manuscript focuses on the relationship between coal and the history of the over 300,000 Italian miners who moved to Wallonia, Belgium, from 1946 onwards, in accordance to the State agreement between Italy and Belgium known as “men in exchange for coal.” Notably, I use environmental history of migration to analyze what I define as “the metabolism of coal.     Sammanfattning : I den här avhandlingen granskas framväxten av den svenska välfärdsstaten i ljuset av internationell påverkan och kunskapsutbyten med andra länder. Avhandlingen handlar om barnavårdsavdelningen inom Svenska fattigvårds- och barnavårdsförbundet och den reformpolitik som fördes inom avdelningen under 1920- och 1930-talen – det vill säga det tidevarv då den den svenska välfärdsstaten formerades.
