16. Design and Assessment of Battery Electric Vehicle Powertrain, with Respect to Performance, Energy Consumption and Electric Motor Thermal Capability
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, various drive cycles, legislative, official real-world and measured, have been studied and characterized based on their speed and acceleration content. Three reference vehicles (a City car, a Highway car and a Sport car) were conceptualized after performance requirements, with data on existing battery electric cars as a frame of reference. LÄS MER
17. Passenger Car Wheel Aerodynamics
Sammanfattning : Current and future requirements for efficiency force the automotive industry to consider all aspects of reducing the energy consumption of road going vehicles. An important aspect of reducing fuel consumption is reduced aerodynamic drag, which at highway cruising speeds is dominating the total drag force for both cars and heavy goods vehicles. LÄS MER
18. A methodology for operations-based safety appraisal of two-lane rural highways : Application in Uganda
Sammanfattning : The majority of the road infrastructure in developing countries consists oftwo-lane highways with one lane in each travel direction. Operational efficiency of these highways is derived fromintermittent passing zones where fast vehicles are permitted by design to pass slow vehicles using the opposite traffic lane. LÄS MER
19. Application of Fracture Mechanics to Concrete Bridges. Finite element analyses and experiments
Sammanfattning : Material models based on fracture mechanics together with non-linear finite element analyses have been used in combination with experiments to study the behaviour of reinforced concrete bridges. The work covers two aspects of interest in the design of concrete bridges.* The shear behaviour was studied in full-scale tests on two highway bridges. LÄS MER
20. Heavy truck modeling for fuel consumption simulations and measurements
Sammanfattning : Fuel consumption for heavy trucks depends on many factors like roads, weather, and driver behavior that are hard for a manufacturer to influence. However, one design possibility is the powertrain configuration. LÄS MER
