1. Integrated teaching for expanded vocational knowing : Studies in the Swedish upper secondary Health and social care program
Sammanfattning : Integrated teaching is emphasized in Swedish upper secondary vocational education and training, for managing sociocultural and historical changes related to: a) increased demands on future competent health care workers, b) educational reforms, c) altered conditions for vocational teachers’ work, and d) vocational contextualization of teaching and learning content. However, national curricula from 1970, 1994, and 2011 recommend integrated teaching as a solution without any specific concretization of what integration could or should contribute with. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The thesis is divided into three sections. The first, “From an education market to public education. The Swedish girls’ school 1874-1962”, deals with the integration of girls’ secondary education into the public education system, as well as with the strengthening and weakening of this special, gender-coded education. 3. Knowledge in VET curricula and power in society and labour market : Policy and practice: demands-based and employer-driven Swedish higher vocational education
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a study of knowledge in vocational education and training (VET), the circumstances for its selection and transmission and how these circumstances are shaped by both national policy and local organisation.The study is set within the Swedish state-funded post-secondary VET system called Higher Vocational Education (HVE) and it entails investigations into both national policy and local practice in programme provision. Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of an introduction and three studies, which are comparative sociological and institutional analyses of a number of countries' publicly regulated vocational education and training systems at upper secondary and post-secondary level. Official regulation of programme content and curricula - the main empirical material - is interpreted, and focus is directed on aspects which distinguish between, among others, general and vocational elements of teaching, learning and training. Sammanfattning : With the increasing academisation of vocational educations the need for higher education to prove to students the relevance of theoretical domain knowledge to professional experience is growing.
