11. Isomeric yield ratio studies in nuclear reactions and alpha-particle induced fission of Thorium
Sammanfattning : Despite decades of research since the initial discovery of nuclear fission, numerous unresolved questions still persist. It is known empirically that fission fragments emerge with high angular momentum. The mechanism responsible for the generation of the large angular momenta observed is one of these open questions. 12. Collective Excitations in Transitional Nuclei Studied by Means of gamma-ray Spectroscopy and Lifetime Measurements
Sammanfattning : Despite that it is more than 100 years since the atomic nucleus was first dis- covered by Ernest Rutherford and coworkers, many of its features still elude our understanding. The fact that the fundamental interactions between the nuclear constituents; nucleons, and ultimately quarks, are not yet known in detail, and the complexity of the nuclear many-body system compound the great challenges facing theoretical interpretations of experimental data. 13. Tuning of Energy and Electron Transfer Rates in Donor-Bridge-Acceptor Systems
Sammanfattning : The intramolecular processes of Donor-Bridge-Acceptor (D-B-A) systems have been investigated by spectroscopic methods. The systems consist of porphyrin donors and acceptors linked by oligo-p-phenyleneethynylene bridges. LÄS MER
14. Microscopic Properties of Superdeformed Nuclei
Sammanfattning : Many high spin rotational bands in superdeformed nuclei have been found in the A ~ 140-150 region, but so far no linking transitions to known normal-deformed states have been found in these nuclei. Therefore, configuration and spin assignments have to be based on indirect spectroscopic information. LÄS MER
15. Rotational Bands and Pairing Interaction in the Shell Model
Sammanfattning : One of the goals pursued in the present research was to understand the nuclear phenomena (such as rotational bands, their backbending and termination, deformation, pairing correlations, etc.) using different views provided by different nuclear models. LÄS MER
