11. Power Games : Rules and Roles in Second Life
Sammanfattning : This study investigates how the members of four different role-playing communities on the online platform Second Life perform social as well as dramatic roles within their community. The trajectories of power influencing these roles are my main focus. LÄS MER
12. Femmes-sujets : Étude sur les oeuvres de romancières marocaines francophones entre 1982 et 1999
Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores and analyses an emergent literature, namely the Moroccan francophone novel written by female authors. The novels selected were published between 1982 and 1999 in Morocco and in France. LÄS MER
13. Adaptive Bounding Volume Hierarchies for Efficient Collision Queries
Sammanfattning : The need for efficient interference detection frequently arises in computer graphics, robotics, virtual prototyping, surgery simulation, computer games, and visualization. To prevent bodies passing directly through each other, the simulation system must be able to track touching or intersecting geometric primitives. LÄS MER
14. The dissolution of channels and hierarchies : An inquiry into the changing customer relationships and organization of the computer corporations
Sammanfattning : The study develops an analysis of the evolution that has occurred in the last decade incustomer relationships of the large computer manufacturing corporations and of the impactthat the changes in these relationships have had on the marketing management activity andorganization of these companies. The aim of our study is twofold - one empirical the othermore theoretical. LÄS MER
15. Efficient Partitioning of Dynamic Structured Grid Hierarchies
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at decreasing execution time for large-scale structured adaptive mesh refinement (SAMR) applications executing on general parallel computers. The key contributions are (1) A conceptual dynamically adaptive meta-partitioner able to select and configure an appropriate partitioning technique, based on application and computer state, and (2) A characterization of new and existing domain-based partitioners, enabling a mapping from application and computer state onto appropriate partitioners, and (3) Sketched scalable solutions, expressed in terms of natural regions and expert algorithms, for the problem to efficiently partition large-scale SAMR applications with deep grid hierarchies executing on general parallel computers, and (4) A software partitioning tool Nature+Fable, implementing the greater parts of these sketched scalable solutions and engineered as part of the meta-partitioner.
