  1. 1. Spatial analysis and modeling of urban transportation networks

    Författare :Jingyi Lin; Yifang Ban; Sten Henning Hansen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Complex networks; transportation systems; network growth; Evolving networks; centrality; urban systems; topology; space syntax; spatial networks; distance effects; gravity laws; planarity; street network patterns; US airline system; China’s aviation system; network efficiency; cellular structure; hierarchy; network representations; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Transport systems in general, and urban transportation systems in particular, are the backbone of a country or a city, therefore play an intrinsic role in the socio-economic development. There have been numerous studies on real transportation systems from multiple fileds, including geography, urban planning, and engineering. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatial distribution and conservation planning of seabed biological diversity

    Författare :Genoveva Gonzalez-Mirelis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial autocorrelation; ecological classifications; distribution modelling; biotopes; conservation planning; biodiversity surrogates; GIS; spatial ecology; benthos; fjord;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of spatial patterns of biota has become a commodity for conservation practitioners and spatial ecologists alike. This type of information enables the identification of representative and unique biological features (at some nominal scale) which itself constitutes the application par excellence of knowledge of biodiversity distribution as it relates to the design of reserve networks and the realization of spatial planning. 3. 3. Spatial analysis and modeling of nerve fiber patterns

    Författare :Claes Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hierarchical models; Bayesian estimation; epidermal nerve fibers; cluster processes; spatial point processes; diabetic neuropathy; Bayesian field theory; Diabetic neuropathies; Multilevel models Statistics ; Institutionen för matematiska vetenskaper. Tillämpad matematik och statistik.; CTH;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetic neuropathy is a condition associated with diabetes affecting the epidermal nerve fibers (ENFs). This thesis presents analysis methods and models for ENF data, with two main puroposes: to find early signs of diabetic neuropathy and to characterize how this condition changes the nerve fiber structure. 4. 4. Light propagation in an anisotropically scattering medium

    Författare :Elena Vasileva; Sergei Popov; Miguel A. Alonso; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anisotropic light scattering; scattering material characterization; polarization dependent scattering; diffusive media; hierarchical structure; biocomposites; wood modification; transparent wood; microfibrils angle; organic materials; polymer active devices; dye lasers; coherence; polarization; degree of polarization.; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Scattering is the main phenomenon of light-matter interaction. In this thesis, we consider one specific case of light propagation in a material whose structure causes anisotropic optical scattering - transparent wood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Principle of Scaling of Geographic Space and its Application in Urban Studies

    Författare :Xintao Liu; Bin Jiang; Yifang Ban; Meng Liqiu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geographic space; scaling; GIScience; VGI; OSM; heavy-tailed distribution; the head tail division rule; space syntax; nature street; urban sprawl; floating car data; hierarchical spatial structure;

    Sammanfattning : Geographic space is the large-scale and continuous space that encircles the earth and in which human activities occur. The study of geographic space has drawn attention in many different fields and has been applied in a variety of studies, including those on cognition, urban planning and navigation systems. LÄS MER
