  1. 1. Inference of Hierarchical Structure in Complex Systems

    Författare :Olof Görnerup; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein evolution; Substitution groups; Modularity; Hierarchical dynamics; RNA world; Genetic code; Aggregation; Primordial evolution; Molecular evolution; Model reduction; Self-organization; Lumping; Emergence; Coarse graining;

    Sammanfattning : Hierarchical organization is a central property of complex systems. It is even argued that a system is required to be hierarchical in order to evolve complexity within reasonable time. A hierarchy of a system is defined as the set of self-contained levels at which the system operates and can be described on. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hierarchical Control and Restart of Flexible Manufacturing Systems

    Författare :Kristin Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Restart; Flexible manufacturing; Finite state automata; Petri nets; Supervisory control theory; Process algebra; Discrete event systems; Hierarchical control; Supervisor synthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Product life-cycles are constantly shortening, and the amount of new product types increases, for example in the automotive industry. Growing demands on flexibility and ability to decrease time to market has made it increasingly important to find methods for fast and accurate development of control programs for flexible manufacturing cells. 3. 3. Hierarchical Variance Reduction Techniques for Monte Carlo Rendering

    Författare :Petrik Clarberg; Institutionen för datavetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; computer graphics; Monte Carlo methods; importance sampling; hierarchical techniques; rendering;

    Sammanfattning : Ever since the first three-dimensional computer graphics appeared half a century ago, the goal has been to model and simulate how light interacts with materials and objects to form an image. The ultimate goal is photorealistic rendering, where the created images reach a level of accuracy that makes them indistinguishable from photographs of the real world. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Advancing Front Mesh Generation Techniques with Application to the Finite Element Method

    Författare :Jan Frykestig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; advancing front method; mesh size distribution; automatic mesh generation; finite element method; surface mesh generation; spatial data structures;

    Sammanfattning : The present study deals with automatic mesh generation with application to finite element methods. We focus our interest on unstructured mesh generation, and in particular on advancing front methods for which algorithms for meshing of two and three dimensional domains as well as of free-form surfaces are devised. 5. 5. Smart Cooperation with Network Coding in Hierarchical Wireless Networks

    Författare :Nan Li; Lars Kildehöj Rasmussen; Daniel Lucani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless communications; Hierarchical networks; 5G; Cognitive radio; Internet of Things; Cooperative communications; Spectrum sharing; Network coding; Optimization; Performance analysis.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : To achieve more dynamic, efficient and intelligent use of the scarce wireless spectrum resource, the concept of cooperation has been formalized into several hierarchical network models in future mobile networks. Cooperative communications, such as relaying, can potentially increase communication efficiency and spectrum utilization due to the broadcast nature of wireless networks, and may lead to a better support for diverse communication modes with flexible spectrum sharing.
