21. Modelling and forecasting economic time series with single hidden-layer feedforward autoregressive artificial neural networks
Sammanfattning : This dissertation consists of 3 essays In the first essay, A Simple Variable Selection Technique for Nonlinear Models, written in cooperation with Timo Teräsvirta and Rolf Tschernig, I propose a variable selection method based on a polynomial expansion of the unknown regression function and an appropriate model selection criterion. The hypothesis of linearity is tested by a Lagrange multiplier test based on this polynomial expansion. LÄS MER
22. Linking Probability Theory and Quantum Mechanics, and a Novel Formulation of Quantization
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis in mathematics consists of three articles that explore the probabilistic structure of quantum mechanics and quantization from a novel perspective. The thesis adopts a probabilistic interpretation of quantum mechanics, which views the archetypical quantum experiments of Bell- and double-slit- type as violating the principle of non-contextuality, i. 23. Intention recognition in human machine collaborative systems
24. Cultivating educational research in Lao PDR : For a better future?
Sammanfattning : This thesis looks at the introduction of educational action research as part of the national education reforms in Lao PDR. National policies on education emphasise concepts such as ‘education for all’ and ‘student-centred education’ taken from the globalised education reform agenda. LÄS MER
25. Rainflow Analysis of Switching Markov Loads
Sammanfattning : Rainflow cycles are often used in fatigue analysis of materials for describing the variability of applied loads. Therefore, an important characteristic of a random load process is the intensity of rainflow cycles, also called the expected rainflow matrix (RFM), which can be used for evaluation of the fatigue life.
