6. Diaryliodonium Salts : Development of Synthetic Methodologies and α-Arylation of Enolates
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes novel reaction protocols for the synthesis of diaryliodonium salts and also provides an insight to the mechanism of α-arylation of carbonyl compounds with diaryliodonium salts. The first chapter gives a general introduction to the field of hypervalent iodine chemistry, mainly focusing on recent developments and applications of diaryliodonium salts. LÄS MER
7. Application of metalation reactions for synthesis of sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals mainly with the synthesis of various sulfur/selenium-containing heterocyclic compounds, many of which include structural features present in several biologically active molecules, with particular emphasis on compounds of synthetic importance, such as indoles, as well as other heteroaromatic species. In the first part, an efficient procedure toward synthesis of new 3-(arylthio)indoles based on reactions of aryl Grignard reagents or lithiated heteroaromatics with protected 3,3′-dithiobisindoles is described. 8. Catalytic Amide Reductions under Hydrosilylation Conditions
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the development of catalytic methodologies for the mild and chemoselective reductions of amides. The first part of the thesis describes the use of a Fe(II)/NHC catalyst for the deoxygenation of aromatic tertiary amides to corresponding amines. LÄS MER
9. Intramolecular electron transfer in DNA and ruthenium(II) systems
Sammanfattning : When ruthenium(II) complexes with heteroaromatic ligands absorb light, an electron is pushed from the metal ion out into one of the ligands, a process called metal-to-ligand-charge-transfer (MLCT). The resulting excited state can be used to initiate further electron transfer processes, or it can decay relatively slow back into the ground state with the emission of light. LÄS MER
10. Excited-state dynamics of small organic molecules studied by time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Ultra-violet and visible light induced processes in small organic molecules play very important roles in many fields, e.g., environmental sciences, biology, material development, chemistry, astrophysics and many others. Thus it is of great importance to better understand the mechanisms behind these processes. LÄS MER
