11. Characterization of Amino Acid Transporters : Transporters expressed in the central nervous system belonging to the Solute Carrier family SLC38
Sammanfattning : In cells and organelles transporters are responsible for translocation of amino acids, sugars and nucleotides among others. In the central nervous system (CNS), amino acid transporters can function as neurotransmitter transporters and nutrient sensors. LÄS MER
12. Non-linear dynamics of Alfvén eigenmodes excited by fast ions in tokamaks
Sammanfattning : The tokamak is so far the most promising magnetic configuration for achieving a net production of fusion energy. The D-T fusion reactions result in 3.5 MeV alpha-particles, which may destabilize Alfvén eigenmodes through wave-particle interaction. LÄS MER
13. Urinary Bladder Carcinoma – Studies of Outcome of Current Management and Experimental Therapy
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns the epidemiology, current and possible future treatment of urothelial cancer of the urinary bladder. The Swedish National Quality Registry for Bladder Cancer 1997-2001 was used to explore epidemiology, current therapies and outcome. More common in men, the incidence for Ta and T1 tumours peaks in the age range 70-79 years. LÄS MER
14. Modelling Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating and Fast Wave Current Drive in Tokamaks
Sammanfattning : Fast magnetosonic waves in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies have the potential to heat plasma and drive current in a thermonuclear fusion reactor. A code, SELFO-light, has been developed to study the physics of ion cyclotron resonantheating and current drive in thermonuclear fusion reactors. LÄS MER
15. The potential of an unmanned aircraft system for surveying lake and river vegetation
Sammanfattning : Vegetation in and along aquatic systems has important regulatory and ecological functions. Aquatic vegetation is also frequently used as an indicator of environmental conditions. To enhance our knowledge of the complex natural processes in the littoral zone, i.e. LÄS MER
