  1. 1. DME Combustion in Heavy Duty Diesel Engines

    Författare :Henrik Salsing; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; combustion; heavy duty; DME; dimethyl ether; Diesel engine;

    Sammanfattning : Interest in alternative energy and fuels has grown considerably in recent years due to increasing concern about the adverse effects of global warming, the limited sources of non-renewable feedstocks, the insecurity of their supply and associated fluctuations in their prices. However, although there is an urgent, and widely recognized, need to address these issues, selecting suitable candidate feedstocks and fuels is far from straightforward, since numerous factors must be considered when selecting promising candidates for further evaluation and, ultimately, commercial use. 2. 2. Low Temperature Combustion in a Heavy Duty Diesel Engine

    Författare :Malin Ehleskog; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LIVC; heavy duty; VVA; Diesel engine; Combustion; soot; EIVC; NOx; LTC;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, there have been major efforts to reduce engine emissions and fuel consumption. The studies described in this thesis were conducted with the aim of identifying methods for reducing harmful engine-out emissions of soot and nitrogen oxides (NOx) under high load without increasing fuel consumption. 3. 3. Fuel-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicle Platooning

    Författare :Assad Alam; Karl H. Johansson; Roberto Horowitz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Platooning; Heavy-Duty Vehicle; Optimal Control; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The freight transport industry faces big challenges as the demand for transport and fuel prices are steadily increasing, whereas the environmental impact needs to be significantly reduced. Heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) platooning is a promising technology for a sustainable transportation system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A Combustion Concept for Future Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines

    Författare :Tobias Husberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

  5. 5. DME and the Heavy Duty Diesel Engine

    Författare :Henrik Salsing; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; combustion; diesel engine; Dimethyl Ether; fuel injection system; DME;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing awareness of adverse anthropogenic environmental effects, such as the effectsof combusting fossil fuels on atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations, and thatcombustion-related emissions from the transportation sector are going to approachsustainable levels in the near future has led to increased interest in fuels from renewablesources. These fuels offer possibilities to diversify the feedstocks that can be used forfuel production, as well as to reduce fossil carbon dioxide emissions, thereby reducingour dependence on a very limited range of sources.
