6. Heavy metal removal by floating treatment wetlands: Plant selection
Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of heavy metals and chloride are commonly found in stormwater, as a consequence of pollution from traffic, building material and industries, and the use of salt for deicing in wintertime. Floating treatment wetlands (FTWs), consisting of vegetated rafts that can be placed in stormwater ponds, may be able to reduce heavy metal and chloride concentrations, but until this date have mainly been used for nutrient removal in warm climates. 7. We bang our heads, therefore I am : subculture as laboratory of identity – the case of heavy metal
Sammanfattning : Subculture is a structure against which identities are both created and guarded. These identities are often socially and practically negotiated against an idea of individual authenticity. The thought of nurturing ones uniqueness while striving to fit in is a common duality and a clear cause of friction within subcultures. LÄS MER
8. Microbial remediation of heavy metal ion polluted soil and water
Sammanfattning : Contamination of soil and water by heavy metal ions (HMs) is a problem all over the world. The use of biological methods alone or in combination with other techniques for treatment of such polluted sites constitutes a major challenge. LÄS MER
9. Development of electrochemical sensor and biosensor platforms : detection of therapeutic drugs and heavy metal ions
Sammanfattning : Electrochemical sensors and biosensors combine the sensitivity of electroanalytical methods with the selectivity of a sensor or biosensor surface. The chemical or biochemical component (receptor) in the sensor recognizes an analyte and produces an electrical signal which is proportional to the analyte concentration. LÄS MER
10. Protein-based capacitive biosensors for the detection of heavy-metal ions
Sammanfattning : Some metal ions, such as copper and zinc, are essential nutrients and catalysts in biochemical reactions. Other metal ions, e.g. cadmium and mercury, are highly toxic elements. LÄS MER
