6. Aero Engine Intercooling
Sammanfattning : Intercooling has the potential to provide a shortcut to the next generation aero engines with higher bypass ratio (BPR), higher overall pressure ratio (OPR) and higher turbine inlet temperature (TIT) by lowering the high pressure compressor (HPC) delivery temperature. To be able to establish a systematic understanding of aero engine intercooling, the heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics of a given intercooler architecture need to be known in the parameter range anticipated for the engine optimization. 7. Thermodynamic analysis of Stirling engine systems : Applications for combined heat and power
Sammanfattning : Increasing energy demands and environmental problems require innovative systems for electrical and thermal energy production. In this scenario, the development of small scale energy systems has become an interesting alternative to the conventional large scale centralized plants. LÄS MER
8. Experimental Investigations of Combustion Chamber Heat Transfer in a Light-Duty Diesel Engine
Sammanfattning : This work concerned experimental studies of heat transfer in a light-duty diesel engine. Combustion is affected by several parameters, such as pressure, engine speed, mass of injected fuel and in-cylinder gas flow. These parameters are in turn affected by the combustion chamber geometry and fuel spray characteristics. LÄS MER
9. Development of Zonal Models for Analysis of Engine Knock
Sammanfattning : Autoignition in SI engines is an abnormal combustion mode and may lead to engine knock which is an undesired phenomenon in SI engines. It may cause damage and it is a source of noise in engines. Knock limits the compression ratio of the engine and a low compression ratio means low fuel conversion efficiency of the engine. LÄS MER
10. On CFD-Analysis of Heat Transfer of a Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine
Sammanfattning : In this work, a heavy-duty diesel engine was studied by employing CFD simulations on a closed volume engine segment. These simulations were used to evaluate both the effects from certain parameters on the wall heat transfer, and to examine how reduction of heat transfer would effect the engine performance and emission levels.
