21. Borehole heat store design optimization
Sammanfattning : Seasonal heat storage, which is used to balance the supply of and demand for heat, e.g. in district heating networks, is necessary for the large-scale utilization of solar heat. The aim of this thesis was to study and develop seasonal heat storage to a point where it, if possible, would be an option in Swedish heating systems. LÄS MER
22. Buildings as thermal energy storage – Pilot test and large-scale implementation for district heating systems
Sammanfattning : Heat loads in a district heating system can exhibit significant variations within a single day, which sets problematic conditions for efficient heat generation. Short-term thermal energy storage (TES) can decrease these daily variations and make the conditions for generating heat more favorable. LÄS MER
23. Mass and Heat Transport in Dryer Fabrics - Experiments and Modelling
Sammanfattning : A dryer fabric is used in the multi-cylinder dryer in order to improve the runnability of the web and to establish proper contact between the web and the hot cylinder, thus improving the heat transport. The dryer fabric separates the hot and moist paper from the ambient drying air and significantly influences the mass and heat transport. LÄS MER
24. Thermodynamic properties of humid air and their application in advanced power generation cycles
Sammanfattning : Water or steam is added into the working fluid (often air) in gas turbines to improve the performance of gas turbine cycles. A typical application is the humidified gas turbine that has the potential to give high efficiencies, high specific power output, low emissions and low specific investment. LÄS MER
25. Possibilities of using thermal mass in buildings to save energy, cut power consumption peaks and increase the thermal comfort
Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to generate knowledge to enable us to take advantage of heat storage in heavy building structures with regard to as energy savings, better thermal indoor climate, and reduced peak powers. This could include buildings that can function without energy input during cold periods, buildings that give a robust indoor climate without installed cooling, and buildings with good thermal comfort also in case of higher outdoor temperatures resulting from global warming.
