  1. 16. Ischemic heart disease in Kiruna : risk factors and sequelae

    Författare :Torbjörn Messner; Kurt Svärdsudd; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ischemic heart disease; risk factors; alcohol; acetylsalicylic acid; lipids; fatty acids; diet; psychosocial risk factors; migration; smoking; mortality; diabetes mellitus; family history; heart failure;

    Sammanfattning : Kiruna, a Swedish community situated 300 km north of the Arctic Circle, has a very high mortality in ischemic heart disease (IHD). Acase-control study was undertaken to find out if the risk factors for IHD or their impact differed from those in other populations. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Bridging the gap between clinical trials and clinical practice : sacubitril-valsartan in heart failure as a model

    Författare :Helena Norberg; Krister Lindmark; Ellinor Bergdahl; Eva-Lotta Glader; Björn Wettermark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systematic implementation; healthcare quality improvement; chronic disease management; heart failure; sacubitril-valsartan; real-world population; sex differences; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : When novel treatments prove more effective than standard therapies, a swift and effective implementation is needed to reach cost-effectiveness and to benefit eligible patients. Meanwhile, women and elderly are often under-represented in clinical trials, which creates a knowledge gap on how to optimize treatment in clinical practice. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Heart failure epidemiology with emphasis on young adults

    Författare :Carmen Basic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiomyopathy; validity; heart failure; mortality; epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Heart failure (HF) is a major health problem worldwide with exponentially increasing incidence with age and the majority of patients being elderly. In recent years, an increase in hospitalization and prevalence of HF in younger persons has been documented in Sweden and Denmark, in contrast to an overall decrease in older patients. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Smokeless Tobacco (Snus) and Cardiovascular Disease : Associations with Heart Failure and Prognosis after Myocardial Infarction

    Författare :Gabriel Arefalk; Johan Sundström; Martin Holzmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Snus; smokeless tobacco; nicotine; cardiovascular disease; heart failure; myocardial infarction; mortality; prognosis; epidemiology; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Previous investigations of snus use (oral moist snuff, a Swedish form of smokeless tobacco) and cardiovascular disease have generally focused on atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, likely because smoking is such a well-established risk factor for atherosclerotic disease. Smokeless administration of tobacco circumvents most of the atherogenic effects of the combusted products from smoked tobacco, but it is possible that the potent autonomic and hemodynamic effects of snus and nicotine per se are detrimental for cardiovascular tissues. 5. 20. Aspects of heart failure development and prevention in women

    Författare :Anna-Karin Halldin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Women; Heart failure; Obesity; Physical activity; Population study; Risk factor; Prevention; Mental stress; Serum triglycerides; Serum cholesterol;

    Sammanfattning : Heart failure (HF) is a severe progressive condition. Women more often are older and suffer from heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), contrasting to men who more often are younger and suffer from heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). LÄS MER
