  1. 11. Otosclerosis; clinical long term-perspectives

    Författare :Ylva Dahlin Redfors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; otosclerosis; stapedectomy; hearing loss; conductive; hearing aid; health-related quality of life; hearing disability; SF-36; SSQ; IOI-HA; MSCT; CBCT;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has assessed medical, technical and health-related aspects of otosclerosis from a long-term perspective. A retrospective clinical study was performed where 65 subjects who had previously undergone stapedectomy (1977-1979) were assessed. Twenty-eight - Thirty years later a follow-up was conducted. 2. 12. Cognition in Hearing Aid Users : Memory for Everyday Speech

    Författare :Hoi Ning Elaine Ng; Jerker Rönnberg; Mary Rudner; Thomas Lunner; Kevin Munro; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hearing aid; working memory; free recall; noise reduction; speech recognition; Hörapparat; arbetsminne; återgivning; brusreducering; taluppfattning;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis investigated the importance of cognition for speech understanding in experienced and new hearing aid users. The aims were 1) to develop a cognitive test (Sentence-final Word Identification and Recall, or SWIR test) to measure the effects of a noise reduction algorithm on processing of highly intelligible speech (everyday sentences); 2) to investigate, using the SWIR test, whether hearing aid signal processing would affect memory for heard speech in experienced hearing aid users; 3) to test whether the effects of signal processing on the ability to recall speech would interact with background noise and individual differences in working memory capacity; 4) to explore the potential clinical application of the SWIR test; and 5) to examine the relationship between cognition and speech recognition in noise in new users over the first six months of hearing aid use. 3. 13. Jobbet är kommunikation : om användning av arbetshjälpmedel för personer med hörselnedsättning

    Författare :Sif Bjarnason; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :assistive listening devices; hearing loss; hearing impairment; work; work adaptations; stigma; social recognition; Health and Medical Care Research; Hälso- och sjukvårdsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : To facilitate participation in hearing situations at work sites persons with hearing loss may use assistive listening devices (ALDs). Compared to personal hearing aids ALDs have received little research attention. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Age affects hearing and cognitive abilities. Older people, with and without hearing impairment (HI), exhibit difficulties in hearing speech in noise. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Sensing the environment : development of monitoring aids for persons with profound deafness or deafblindness

    Författare :Parivash Ranjbar; Dag Stranneby; Erik Borg; Charlotte M. Reed; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Auditive identification; Deaf; Deafblind; Directional perception; Environmental sound; Filtering; Frequency transposing; Hearing aid; Hearing impairment; Modulating; Monitoring; Tactile perception; Vibratory aid; Vibratory identification; Electronics; Elektronik; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : Earlier studies of persons with deafness (D) and/or deafblindness (DB) have primarily focused on the mobility and communication problems. The purpose of the present study was to develop technology for monitoring aids to improve the ability of persons with D and/or DB to detect, identify, and perceive direction of events that produce sounds in their surroundings.
