2. Leaving the door ajar : young migrants’ sexual and reproductive health in Sweden
Sammanfattning : Young people and migrants are both prioritized groups regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), but studies about the sexual andreproductive health (SRH) of young migrants in Sweden are scarce. The aim of this thesis was to study the SRH of young migrants in Sweden, and specifically to: 1) explore how do young migrants understand SRH, and how do they experience their sexual rights; and 2) examine how do young migrants perceive and experience the process of accessing SRH services, including their approachability, acceptability, adequacy and quality. 3. Buildning a midwifery profession in South Asia
Sammanfattning : Midwives are key professionals in improving maternal and child health globally, but establishing a midwifery profession in low-income countries is proving to be difficult. The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the situation and building of a midwifery profession in South Asia, and to reveal how influential actors are connected to one another in the building of a profession, especially in Nepal and Bangladesh. 4. Elderly Immigrants, Socio-economic Status and Health. An epidemiological study of cardiovascular risk factors, impaired mobility and self-reported health status
Sammanfattning : Aims: To analyse the relationship between country of birth/ethnicity, socio-economic status (SES) and impaired mobility, impaired working capacity, cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, health behaviours among those with CVD risk factors, self-reported health status, impaired instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and all-cause mortality. Methods: Two main data sources were used: the Swedish Survey of Living Conditions (in Swedish ULF) 1986–1993, people aged 55–74 years, and the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) 1988–1994 in the USA, people aged 65–84.
