  1. 11. Ultrastructural and systematic studies of cecidomyiidae (Diptera)

    Författare :Ruben Tastás-Duque; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gallmyggor; tvåvingar; cecidomyiidae; diptera;

    Sammanfattning : Examination of the abdomen of the adult female and the head capsule of the mature larva indicates the grat utility of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) in examining structures when searching for useful characters to deal with the taxonomy and phylogeny of gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae). Some of the structures found represent adaptations of limited value for phylogenetic considerations at higher levels. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Development and evaluation of an independent system for absorbed dose calculations in radiotherapy

    Författare :Stefan Johnsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; tomography; medical instrumentation; radiology; Clinical physics; cancer; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; PDA; mini-phantom; in-air equivalence; primary kerma; transmission measurement; stopping power ratio; entrance dose; beam quality; quality control; error prevention; monitor unit calculation; radiation therapy; dose calculation;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to develop, implement and evaluate an independent system with which to calculate the absorbed dose, delivered by high-energy X-ray beams, to the prescription point and the depth of dose maximum. The introduction of such a system in the clinical routine may help ensure high-quality treatment and avoidance of errors which may jeopardise the clinical outcome of the treatment (i. LÄS MER

  3. 13. A Systems perspective of Waste and Energy - Strengths and Weaknesses of the ORWARE Model

    Författare :Ola Eriksson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Waste management of today in Sweden is a complex phenomenonthat demands for a scientific and systematic approach. Thecomplexity is a result of a wide variety of actors,technologies, and impact on the environment, health, and theeconomy. Waste management also has a high relevance withrespect to energy. There are direct connections as e. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Radiolabeled acetate PET in oncology imaging : studies on head and neck cancer, prostate cancer and normal distribution

    Författare :Aijun Sun; Jens Sörensen; Silvia Johansson; Mikael Karlsson; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Ingela Turesson; Heikki Minn; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 11C-acetate; 18F-fluoroacetate; PET; head and neck cancer; staging; delineating tumor volume; clearance rate; perfusion; RT; treatment outcome; benign and malignant lymph node; prostate cancer; normal distribution; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : The use of positron emission tomography (PET) for imaging in oncology has grown rapidly in recent years. 2-[18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is the most common tracer of PET, although drawbacks exist. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Injuries among the elderly : study of fatal and non-fatal injury events

    Författare :Harmeet Sjögren; Ulf Björnstig; Anders Eriksson; Pat Waller; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; elderly; injury; prevention; traffic; home; fall; crash; disease; bicyclist; pedestrian; cost; vehicle;

    Sammanfattning : In view of the expected increase in the proportion of elderly in the population in most western countries, we studied injuries among the elderly (>60 years) by investigating hospital-treated injuries in inpatients and outpatients, and fatal injuries.One-year Hospital Injury Data - Even though the elderly made up only 15% of the injured in one year, they accounted for 42% of the total cost of trauma medical care, showing that injuries among the elderly place a disproportional burden on the health care system.
