  1. 16. Risk assessment of chemical mixtures in the aquatic environment

    Författare :Mikael Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical mixtures; Risk assessment; Pesticides; Industrial chemicals; REACH; Chemical monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : The total chemical production within the European Union amounts to more than 300 million tonnes per year, of which 140 million tonnes are considered as hazardous to the environment. In order to ensure that these chemicals do not have harmful effects under normal use, likely environmental concentrations are compared to assumed environmentally safe concentration, and only if the resulting risk is deemed acceptable is the product or chemical allowed for use. 2. 17. Risk assessment of natural hazards : Data availability and applicability for loss quantification

    Författare :Tonje Grahn; Lars Nyberg; Magnus Johansson; Henrik Jaldell; Giuliano di Baldassarre; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; flood; landslide; damage; damage function; cost-benefit; decision support; causal relationship; Risk- och Miljöstudier; Risk and Environmental Studies;

    Sammanfattning : Quantitative risk assessments are a fundamental part of economic analysis and natural hazard risk management models. It increases the objectivity and the transparency of risk assessments and guides policymakers in making efficient decisions when spending public resources on risk reduction. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Exploring the ecotoxicity of microparticle debris

    Författare :Zandra Gerdes; Elena Gorokhova; Martin Ogonowski; Tamara Galloway; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microplastics as emerging pollutants; hazard assessment; ecotoxicological experimental design; aquatic toxicology; chemical vector; suspended solids; reference particles; crustaceans as test organisms; behavioural assays in ecotoxicology; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The global distribution and anticipated increase of environmental microplastic (MP) pollution are concerning. However, while the impacts of macroplastic litter on wildlife are apparent, we know relatively little about the MP hazard potential. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Evolving geriatric anthropometrics- an interplay with lifestyle changes, birth cohort effects, and survival implications. : Results from the general population study, “Good Aging in Skåne,” Sweden

    Författare :Nivetha Natarajan Gavriilidou; Geriatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anthropometrics; BMI misclassification; measurement; error correction; prediction equation; surrogate; survival; lifestyle; birth cohort; Swedish elderly; assessment;

    Sammanfattning : There is a rising proportion of aging population worldwide. The high vulnerability of older adults to morbidity and mortality introduces an enormous health and economic burden to themselves and the society. The established leading cause of death among older adults is due to chronic and vascular diseases. LÄS MER

  5. 20. From emission sources to human tissues: modelling the exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

    Författare :Melissa Ines Gomis; Ian Cousins; Robin Vestergren; Hermann Fromme; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAAs; PFOA; PFOS; fluorinated alternatives; human exposure; pharmacokinetic modelling; hazard assessment; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Produced since the 1950’s, per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFASs) substances are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic compounds that are ubiquitous in the environment. Being proteinophilic with a tendency to partition to protein-rich tissues, PFASs have been found in human serum worldwide and in wildlife with a predominance of long-chain perfluoroalkyl carboxilic acids (C7-C14 PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids (C6-C9 PFSAs).
