1. Fatigue strength of engineering materials : the influence of environment and porosity
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to use LEFM in order to assess the detrimental influence of surrounding chloride-containing environments for stainless steels, hardened steel as well as for a cast aluminium alloy. An additional aim was also to use LEFM to assess the influence of porosity on the fatigue properties for different commercial cast aluminium alloys and manufacturing methods. LÄS MER
2. Influence of Microstructure on the Machinability of Prehardened Mould Steels
Sammanfattning : Mould steels are mainly employed in moulding of plastic products, and also some metals withlow melting temperature such as magnesium alloys. The ever-growing usage of plastics in theindustry, especially the automotive industry, and in everyday life, has increased the utilizationof mould steels. LÄS MER
3. Friction and Wear Phenomena in Steels at Elevated Temperatures
Sammanfattning : Different grades of steels are often exposed to high temperatures whether during their shaping/forming or during their use in several applications. This exposure to high temperature has a great bearing on the resulting friction and wear phenomena in steels due to changes in their surface and near-surface properties. LÄS MER
4. Secondary hardening in some low-chromium hot-work tool steels
Sammanfattning : Low-chromium hot-work tool steels combine good heat conductivity with excellent tempering resistance. This property combination has made these steels ideal for die casting and extrusion. LÄS MER
5. Integrated Experimental and Computational Study of Precipitation in Martensitic Steels
Sammanfattning : Precipitation is a phase transformation process in metallic materials that significantlyaffects properties. The precipitation process that includes nucleation, growth andcoarsening of small particles can be tuned by alloying, deformation, thermal treatment. LÄS MER
