26. On the use of visualisation tools in product design : exploring possibilities and problems of virtual reality techniques
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis has its base in product development methodology and examines product representations and visual displays as tools for product design. New visualisation technologies, such as VR, has entered the market, but unfortunately, questions of usability and accessibility for the designer are often set aside in favour of development of the technology itself. This research explores methods for designing with invisible materiality within the research practice, as well as ways of representation through textiles when designing spaces. Exploring textiles and smells within a space, the research program investigates spatial interactions. LÄS MER
28. Haptic Interaction with Deformable Objects
Sammanfattning : The integration of haptics into virtual environments has triggered a new era by allowing interaction with virtual objects through force feedback in a number of fields. Medicine has been the field with highest potential benefit through improved realism and immersion. LÄS MER
29. Haptic Navigation Aids for the Visually Impaired
Sammanfattning : Assistive technologies have improved the situation in society for visually impaired individuals. The rapid development the last decades have made both work and education much more accessible. Despite this, moving about independently is still a major challenge, one that at worst can lead to isolation and a decreased quality of life. LÄS MER
30. Outcome after surgery of congenital cataract
Sammanfattning : The visual outcome in infants undergoing surgery for bilateral congenital cataract has improved considerably because of improved surgical methods and the realisation that early detection, allowing early cataract extraction and immediate optical correction, can prevent otherwise irreversible deprivation amblyopia. The management of unilateral congenital cataract is still of the most difficult problems in paediatric ophtalmology. LÄS MER
