  1. 11. Design and Evaluation of 3D Multimodal Virtual Environments for Visually Impaired People

    Författare :Ying Ying Huang; Yngve Sundblad; Eva-Lotta Sallnäs; Charlotte Magnusson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Multimodal interaction; 3D worlds; Haptics; Audio; Visually impaired users; Collaboration; Navigation; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Spatial information presented visually is not easily accessible to visually impairedusers. Current technologies, such as screen readers, cannot intuitively conveyspatial layout or structure. This lack of overview is an obstacle for a visuallyimpaired user, both when using the computer individually and when collaboratingwith other users. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Direct Volume Haptics for Visualization

    Författare :Karljohan Lundin Palmerius; Anders Ynnerman; Matthew Cooper; David Ebert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Haptic Visualization; Volumetric Data; Haptic Primitives; Shape Representations; Time-varying Data; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Visualization is the process of making something perceptible to the mind or imagination. The techniques for producing visual imagery of volumetric data have advanced immensely during the last decades to a point where each produced image can include an overwhelming amount of information. 3. 13. The Influence of Modality Combinations on Communication in Collaborative Virtual Environments

    Författare :Jonas Moll; Eva-Lotta Sallnäs-Pysander; Kerstin Severinson Eklundh; Stephen Brewster; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Haptics; Audio; Multimodality; Collaboration; Communication;

    Sammanfattning : Although many studies have been performed on collaboration in multimodal interfaces not many of these have looked specifically on how the supported modalities influence the task solving strategies chosen and the communication between users solving a joint task in collaborative virtual environments. Therefore, the thesis studies performed aimed at shedding light on these aspects of multimodality. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Neocortical interpretation of haptic and visual events across brain states: Electrophysiological investigations in sensory information processing

    Författare :Sofie Skårup Kristensen; Hjärnans sensorimotoriska funktioner; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Haptics; Visual; Multisensory; Cortical; Rodent; Neurophysiology; Tactile; Electrophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis delves into the complex architecture of dynamic sensory information processing in the neocortex. Specifically, it asks how primary sensory cortical regions are influenced by local and widespread cortical state changes. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Shape and Being Shaped : Sketching with Haptics in Soma Design

    Författare :Charles Windlin; Kristina Höök; Jarmo Laaksolahti; Anders Lundström; Bill Buxton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sketching; Soma Design; Constructive Design Research; Haptic Interaction Design; first-person; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Sketching is an integral part of the design process, and it often occurs in the early ideation phase where the focus is on expressing ideas, thoughts, and emotions, allowing them to take shape and making it possible to share them with others to propel the design process forwards. In principle, sketching is a process of externalising thoughts into visualisations, and it influences the creator and collaborators by enabling them to realise and reflect on the possibility and viability of their ideas and develop them further by adding to or subtracting from the sketches.
