1. A Position Control-based Approach to Stiff Objects Haptic Rendering
Sammanfattning : With electronic components and computational power becoming more portable and available to general consumers, applications like virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) are on the rise and renovating the industry of training simulators. Though it is not fully accepted in surgical robots, haptic force feedback can be safely introduced into various surgical training simulators to convey the necessary haptic cues needed to develop hand-eye coordination and motor skills. 2. Haptics with Applications to Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning
Sammanfattning : Virtual surgery planning systems have demonstrated great potential to help surgeons achieve a better functional and aesthetic outcome for the patient, and at the same time reduce time in the operating room resulting in considerable cost savings. However, the two-dimensional tools employed in these systems today, such as a mouse and a conventional graphical display, are difficult to use for interaction with three-dimensional anatomical images. 3. Modeling and Visualization for Virtual Interaction with Medical Image Data
Sammanfattning : Interactive systems for exploring and analysing medical three dimensional (3D) volume image data using techniques such as stereoscopic rendering and haptics can lead to new workflows for virtual surgery planning. This includes the design of patient-specific surgical guides and plates for additive manufacturing (3D printing). LÄS MER
4. Haptic Milling Simulation in Six Degrees-of-Freedom : With Application to Surgery in Stiff Tissue
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis describes a substantial part of the design of a prototypical surgical training simulator. The results are intended to be applied in future simulators used to educate and train surgeons for bone milling operations. LÄS MER
5. Haptic and visual simulation of material cutting process : a study focused on bone surgery and the use of simulators for education and training
Sammanfattning : A prototype of a haptic and virtual reality simulator has been developed for simulation of the bone milling and material removal process occurring in several operations, e.g. temporal bone surgery or dental milling. The milling phase of an operation is difficult, safety critical and very time consuming. LÄS MER
