  1. 1. A Position Control-based Approach to Stiff Objects Haptic Rendering

    Författare :Yang Wang; Kjell Andersson; Lei Feng; Anders Robertsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; haptic rendering; position control-based approach; rigid-body interaction; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : With electronic components and computational power becoming more portable and available to general consumers, applications like virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) are on the rise and renovating the industry of training simulators. Though it is not fully accepted in surgical robots, haptic force feedback can be safely introduced into various surgical training simulators to convey the necessary haptic cues needed to develop hand-eye coordination and motor skills. 2. 2. Haptics with Applications to Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Planning

    Författare :Pontus Olsson; Ingrid B. Carlbom; Blake Hannaford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; medical image processing; haptics; haptic rendering; haptic gripper; visuo-haptic co-location; vibrotactile feedback; surgery simulation; virtual surgery planning; cranio-maxillofacial surgery; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Virtual surgery planning systems have demonstrated great potential to help surgeons achieve a better functional and aesthetic outcome for the patient, and at the same time reduce time in the operating room resulting in considerable cost savings. However, the two-dimensional tools employed in these systems today, such as a mouse and a conventional graphical display, are difficult to use for interaction with three-dimensional anatomical images. Sammanfattning : Interactive systems for exploring and analysing medical three dimensional (3D) volume image data using techniques such as stereoscopic rendering and haptics can lead to new workflows for virtual surgery planning. This includes the design of patient-specific surgical guides and plates for additive manufacturing (3D printing). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Haptic Milling Simulation in Six Degrees-of-Freedom : With Application to Surgery in Stiff Tissue

    Författare :Magnus G. Eriksson; Jan Wikander; Dwight Meglan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Surgical simulation; Virtual reality; Haptic feedback; Surgical training; Medical simulators; 3D visualization; Six degrees-of-freedom; Bone milling;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis describes a substantial part of the design of a prototypical surgical training simulator. The results are intended to be applied in future simulators used to educate and train surgeons for bone milling operations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Haptic and visual simulation of material cutting process : a study focused on bone surgery and the use of simulators for education and training

    Författare :Magnus G. Eriksson; Jan Wikander; Ingela Nyström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; surgical simulation; virtual reality; haptic feedback; surgical training; medical simulators; metrics; 3D visualization; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : A prototype of a haptic and virtual reality simulator has been developed for simulation of the bone milling and material removal process occurring in several operations, e.g. temporal bone surgery or dental milling. The milling phase of an operation is difficult, safety critical and very time consuming. LÄS MER
